The Fraser Region Aboriginal Friendship Centre Association (FRAFCA) is a community-driven organization serving the urban Indigenous community across Surrey and the Fraser region. Rooted in reconciliation, reciprocity, and culturally grounded, trauma-informed care, our programs support individuals and families through every stage of life — from children and youth to Elders.

Everything we do is about belonging: creating spaces where our community feels seen, supported, and at home.

Yesterday, over 1,000 people gathered on Semiahmoo land for the 6th Annual Walk for Truth & Reconciliation — and our hearts are full. 🧡

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is a day of remembrance. We honour the children who never came home, the Survivors of residential schools, and the families and communities who carry this history every day. We wear orange because Every Child Matters — not just on September 30th, but always.

For FRAFCA, this day sits at the very heart of who we are. Walking together from Grand Chief Bernard Robert Charles Memorial Plaza to Semiahmoo Park, surrounded by drummers, dancers, Elders, Survivors, youth, and community, we were reminded that reconciliation is not a single moment — it is a commitment we live out through relationship, reciprocity, and care for one another.

Thank you to Semiahmoo First Nation for welcoming us onto your territory, to keynote speaker and Orange Shirt Society co-founder Phyllis Webstad for sharing her truth, to the Kwel Eng Sen Youth Dancers, to Indigenous artist JB the First Lady, and to every single person who walked beside us. Your presence matters.

To the Survivors: we honour you. To the children: we remember you. To our community: we walk forward together.
