We are thrilled to partner with Jill Goranson and Dreamwalker Creative Producer Kelsi James for Sip & Dip: A Dance Dim Sum Event!

Inspired by our 2025 Dance Dim Sum, where artists Juolin Lee, Jia Yi (Judy) Luo, Andrea Nann and Sarah Chase shared practices and excerpts of their new works, Sip & Dip is a community gathering and sharing centering “Burn Blue” by Kelsi, Jill and their collaborators.

There will be tea and snacks, some story sharings and exploration experiments inspired by Burn Blue, and the chance to catch a small excerpt of the piece before it premieres this September!

Burn Blue:
A devised, interdisciplinary show about the ocean, Vancouver stream restoration, and the politicization of water, premiering this September at Vancouver Fringe.

✨Body and Breath in Landscape: Movement Workshop with Andrea Nann and Sarah Chase
Sunday, July 19
11:00 am to 12:30 pm

Beginning with gently guided exercises that bring awareness to the senses, body, and breath, participants will explore how gestures and movement patterns can carry memory and emotion, and how these movements can tell personal stories.

This movement workshop offers embodied insight into Nann and Chase’s collaborative performance A Crazy Kind of Hope, on view in the current exhibition Dancing through to the other side. Through this workshop, they invite participants to explore their own movements and memories, supported by Chase’s dance-story practice and the Conscious Bodies Methodology developed by Andrea Nann through Dreamwalker Dance Company.

Join us for a luminous evening as we celebrate the 20th Anniversary Season of Dreamwalker Dance Company at 509 Dance, this Saturday June 20th from 7pm-10pm.

For two decades, we have been weaving together movement, imagination, community, and connection. This special gathering offers an opportunity to honour the many relationships, experiences, and creative journeys that have shaped our past and continue to inspire our future.

Step into a Garden of Delights—a landscape of memories, encounters, and possibilities. Throughout the evening, guests will enjoy sparkling refreshments, special teas, and light fare while engaging in activations designed by Michelle Silagy, Danielle Denichaud, Sarah Chase, and the Conscious Bodies Ensemble, to awaken the senses and invite meaningful connection.

The celebration will also feature a series of intimate pop-up performances, including special appearances by Andy Maize and Josh Finlayson (Skydiggers), Kelsi James, Philip Davis, and Dreamwalker founder Andrea Nann, who will share a new solo work, Firehorse 2026, created in honour of this powerful Fire Horse year.

I was born in 1966, a Fire Horse year in the Chinese zodiac’s 60-year c*cle, where animal and element intertwine to shape a life. In this Firehorse year of 2026, as I complete the circle of 60 years, I find myself dancing a solo that is related to a larger collection of matrilineal work, Firehorse and Shadow, that I have been co-creating with collaborators Annie Katsura Rollins, Sarah Chase, Cindy Mochizuki, and composer Ben Grossman. This new solo moves through time as I do, weaving memory with the present, tracing echoes from past choreography that remain in my body. It is a quiet act of remembering and becoming, and one more way of bringing to light the often-unspoken experiences of Chinese Canadian women.
