We are so proud to share that Andrea Nann has been nominated for the 2026 Eldred Family Dance Award. This award recognizes exceptional achievement and creative ability in dance by an established Ontario choreographer.

Andrea’s professional career has brought her into collaboration and community with so many extraordinary artists, across so many places — she thanks the Ontario Arts Council - Conseil des arts de l'Ontario and its adjudicators for this nomination, and she thanks all the artists with whom she branches roots, for being part of her journey.

Join us for a luminous evening as we celebrate the 20th Anniversary Season of Dreamwalker Dance Company at 509 Dance, this Saturday June 20th from 7pm-10pm.

For two decades, we have been weaving together movement, imagination, community, and connection. This special gathering offers an opportunity to honour the many relationships, experiences, and creative journeys that have shaped our past and continue to inspire our future.

Step into a Garden of Delights—a landscape of memories, encounters, and possibilities. Throughout the evening, guests will enjoy sparkling refreshments, special teas, and light fare while engaging in activations designed by Michelle Silagy, Danielle Denichaud, Sarah Chase, and the Conscious Bodies Ensemble, to awaken the senses and invite meaningful connection.

The celebration will also feature a series of intimate pop-up performances, including special appearances by Andy Maize and Josh Finlayson (Skydiggers), Kelsi James, Philip Davis, and Dreamwalker founder Andrea Nann, who will share a new solo work, Firehorse 2026, created in honour of this powerful Fire Horse year.

Whether you have travelled with us from the beginning or have recently joined our community, we would be delighted to celebrate this milestone with you.

Come raise a glass, share a story, reconnect with friends and collaborators, and help us welcome the next chapter of our unfolding journey.

We look forward to celebrating with you.

One more show! Catch Firehorse 2026, part of Co.ERASGA’s Undivided Colours (Asian Heritage Month), tonight May 15th 8pm at The Dance Centre (677 Davie St, Vancouver)!

Note from Andrea:
I was born in 1966, a Fire Horse year in the Chinese zodiac’s 60-year c*cle, where animal and element intertwine to shape a life. In this Firehorse year of 2026, as I complete the circle of 60 years, I find myself dancing a solo that is related to a larger collection of matrilineal work, Firehorse and Shadow, that I have been co-creating with collaborators Annie Katsura Rollins, Sarah Chase, Cindy Mochizuki, and composer Ben Grossman. This new solo moves through time as I do, weaving memory with the present, tracing echoes from past choreography that remain in my body. It is a quiet act of remembering and becoming, and one more way of bringing to light the often-unspoken experiences of Chinese Canadian women.

Choreographer and Performer: Andrea Nann
Creative Collaborator: Sarah Chase
Creative Producer: Kelsi James
Composer and Sound Designer: Ben Grossman
Lighting Designer: Jessica Han
Production Manager: A.J. Morra
Firehorse and Shadow Collaborators: Cindy Mochizuki, Annie Katsura Rollins
Outside Eyes: Kay Huang Barnes and Kelsi James

Undivided Colours is a mixed program of dance Celebrating Asian Heritage Month 2026. Featuring: Co.ERASGA, Andrea Nann/Dreamwalker, Sujit Vaidya, Kasandra La China and Bayanihan Creative Collective.

[ID: The first image is taken in the darkened theatre of The Dance Centre, where Andrea is dancing tenderly with a white sheet. The sheet obscures her body as she turns, catching the light warmly and bouncing it across the dark marley floor.

The second image is also taken in the theatre, with the sheet. Andrea holds the sheet in front of her. She is backlit, and her silhouette shadows the back of the sheet. The light spills around her in a soft arc, illuminating the marley floor and the c*c behind her. End ID.]

Affixed to the record is the shape of a horse; the light hits the record, and the horse’s silhouette dances across the sheet. Andrea’s focus is downwards onto the sheet and intent. The overhead light is tinged deep blue.

The second image is also taken in the theatre, but at a different moment in the piece. The silhouette of the horse is now thrown onto the c*c at the back of the theatre. Andrea faces upstage and away from the audience, her shadow blending with the horse’s. She is wearing light coloured clothing and her hair down, with her arms stretched out to the left. End ID.]
