Contact local clubs on the BC Lapidary list to see who is accepting memberships. Surrey Rockhound Club is the local group of the BC Lapidary Society. Members enjoy collecting and learning about rocks and gems. Their workshop is used by members to cut, polish and tumble stones into works of art and create custom jewellery. Members also love educating the community about geology and lapidary information.

The Purposes of the Society are:

To promote a greater understanding of mineralogy and Earth Sciences;

To provide instruction and guidance in protection of natural resources and the wise use of the outdoors;

To provide instruction in artistry from natural resources by:
a) teaching the lapidary arts of cutting, polishing, faceting, sculpture, scrimshaw, silversmithing, and wire-wrapping by utilizing natural rocks, gems and minerals;
b) providing the facilities and tools necessary for instruction;

To create greater public awareness of family benefit of lapidary arts by hosting display shows. To host educational visits by school children; youth groups and adults. To create better family life both in our community and beyond, by promoting participation in the lapidary arts and outdoor rock hunting activities.
