SAS creates change through positive relationships and empowers people with disabilities through leadership, advocacy, and community engagement.

Join the Self-Advocates of Semiahmoo (SAS) for our Surrey Mayoral Candidates Mixer on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. This is a free event and no RSVP is required. Mayoral Candidates Linda Annis, Mike Starchuk, Brenda Locke, Honveer Singh Randhawa & Troy Van-Vliet will be in attendance.

Hear from Surrey's mayoral candidates on issues that matter to the entire Surrey community, including growth & housing, health, affordability, transportation, and public safety.

The evening will also include a reception where you'll have the opportunity to speak directly with the candidates.

Self-advocates will also share what is important to the disability movement and how local leadership can help build a more inclusive community.

Congratulations Jeevan on being a 2026 recipient of the WOW Award, Widening our World.
With over 30 inspiring nominations this year, the committee made up of self-advocates, family members, CLBC Community Council members, and CLBC staff had to make some difficult decisions in selecting the award recipients.
“It’s important for me to advocate for others, because some people might not be able to advocate for themselves. I enjoy giving back to my community because growing up, a lot of people have supported me,” says Jeevan.
Jeevan was celebrated by friends, family, supporters, SAS members & Sheila Malcolmson, Minister of Social Development and Poverty Reduction. What a great celebration! Thank you all for attending.
