Merry Christmas, 278 Family,

We held our annual winter potluck, Hungry Hangar, on December 16th and 17th! We had a photo booth where cadets got their pictures taken, along with many activities everyone enjoyed.
The award for Best Festive-Themed Outfit went to Sgt Singh, A, who won a gift card!

Thank you to everyone who brought an item for our annual winter potluck. We had a blast! And to everyone who helped organize the event or oversaw and ran the activities, we appreciate your support.

The remaining food was donated to the homeless people.

On November 11, cadets from 278 Cormorant Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron participated in the Remembrance Day Ceremony at the Whalley Legion and Surrey Cenotaph. The event brought together veterans, COATS members, and members of the Surrey community to honour and remember those who served and sacrificed for Canada.

Cadets formed up alongside other youth organizations and community groups, marching to the cenotaph and standing at attention throughout the service. During the ceremony, they observed the moment of silence, saluted during the national anthem, and laid wreaths in memory of fallen soldiers. Their participation reflected the discipline, professionalism, and civic responsibility that define the Cadet Program across the country.

Through their involvement, cadets and COATS members continue to ensure remembrance lives on in every part of Canada. COATS members serve not only as instructors but also as community liaisons, bridging military tradition with civilian understanding and reinforcing the Canadian Armed Forces' commitment to honouring veterans regardless of geography.

The presence of 278 Cormorant RCACS at the Whalley Legion represents the next generation of Canadian leadership, grounded in respect for history and dedicated to the values of service, remembrance, and community.

On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, cadets from 278 Cormorant Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron gathered at Princess Margaret Secondary School for a training night dedicated to honouring Canada’s Veterans and understanding the meaning of Remembrance Day.

Throughout the evening, cadets participated in a variety of interactive learning sessions designed to reflect on the sacrifices made by members of the Canadian Armed Forces. They had the opportunity to speak with a veteran, learn about Canada’s military history and Indigenous contributions, write messages of gratitude to Veterans, and create handmade poppies to take home and plant in remembrance.

The night encouraged cadets to reflect on the importance of remembrance, ensuring that the legacy of those who served continues to be respected and carried forward by future generations.
