It was a joyful day when we dropped off some musical instruments at the Jesken Aerie facility.

If your care home needs some instruments, including shakers, tambourines, rain makers, shoot us a message.

"B grew up in a culture that prioritized the arts and classic themes. He had a collection of classical music that 'compares to none'. He and his wife attended many symphonies and concerts in New York throughout the 60’s and 70’s. He collected collections by Mozart and Beethoven, to name a few. As he assisted with creating a playlist, he stated, 'These are masterpieces. They are not played here, as no one else enjoys this music. I’ve noticed that.' He continued to explain how he felt privileged to listen to the music again that brings back many memories of him and his wife."

A highlight of this year was visiting local care homes and supporting their Heart for Music programs!

Heart for Music would like to express our thanks to Long & McQuade for opening many of their BC stores to host our Used Percussion Instrument Drive and for supporting our recent in-person workshop for seniors in care. Thanks to your support, and the incredible kindness of those who donated percussion instruments, seniors in not-for-profit care homes now have more opportunities to engage in hands-on music-making. These instruments are resources for care homes, but they're also tools for music therapy, to bring comfort, and shared joy.

We’re deeply grateful to everyone who looked through their instruments and chose to give. Your donations are making a real difference in the lives of seniors who often face isolation and have more limited resources.
