We are proud to officially welcome Fire 2 to our fleet.

This new unit will serve primarily as our wildland firefighting truck, helping us respond more effectively to grass, brush, and forest fires throughout our community and surrounding areas.

This project was made possible through the incredible support of our community. Funds raised through community events, donations, and local fundraising efforts were used to help bring this truck into service.

On behalf of all our members, thank you to everyone who supported our fundraising efforts. Your generosity has directly contributed to improving our department’s ability to protect lives, property, and our natural resources.

We look forward to putting Fire 2 to work in service of the community that made it possible.

🚨 Burning Restrictions in Effect - Northumberland County 🚨

As of today, burning is restricted in Northumberland County.

🟡 What this means:
Burning is only permitted between 8:00 PM and 8:00 AM.

Please use caution if you are burning during permitted hours and ensure all fires are fully extinguished before leaving them unattended.

These restrictions are in place to reduce wildfire risk and keep our communities safe. Conditions can change quickly, so stay updated before burning.

If in doubt, don’t burn.

Congratulations to Jeff Siliker on his appointment to Sunny Corner Fire Departments newest Chief, and to Mike Jardine on becoming Deputy Chief. Both were officially presented with their positions by the Advisor of Fire Services for the Miramichi River Valley. Wishing you both the best in your new roles as you continue to lead and serve your community with dedication and pride.

Wednesday night training kept the crew busy and hands-on. We started with our regular truck checks to make sure everything is ready to go, then moved into pumper operations. Some of our members worked through drafting water and setting up our portable tank which are key skills, especially in areas without hydrants. Great to get the reps in and keep everyone sharp. 🚒
