The group took on as their first project the Bighorn Campground located on the Parks Canada Ya Ha Tinda Ranch. They negotiated with Parks Canada to take over as the stewards of the campground. Over the intervening years, through positive, proactive volunteer efforts, Friends of the Eastern Slo

Itโ€™s that time of year that we need to apparently remind our users to clean up after yourself!

- Always pack out what you pack in
- Leave sites better than you arrived
- Do NOT dispose of garbage etc. down our outhouses, this increases our pump out fees substantially!

If you notice any problem sites or outhouses, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

We are lucky to be able to enjoy these sites and escape from the hustle and bustle of life, do your part in helping keep our West Country open and alive for many years to come!
Happy Camping ๐Ÿ•๏ธ

Posting on behalf of the family member -
PLEASE be respectful of public & private property! This is a Memorial Bench by the Bighorn Falls that was paid for, supplied by the family, on Parks Property. This is NOT acceptable and a shame that the post even has to be made.

These Benches are placed as memorials and also for your enjoyment, the family is extremely disappointed and upset.

*these benches are on Parks property and are out of our jurisdiction, but we thought this is a great reminder for everyone, vandalism any wave shape or form is not acceptable.

Letโ€™s just hope B & T donโ€™t regret this years down the road and their love lasts a lifetime ๐Ÿ˜† this is unfortunately permanent.

Also a special Thank You needs to go out to Don Livingston, Dale Marshall, Marie Demyen-Lysak and Trevor Martindale for delivering our new picnic tables to Hummingbird Campground in the snow May Long Weekend! They left Rocky Saturday morning with sun shining and got to Hummingbird in a wet spring snowstorm.

Trevor and Don also took a load of tables out to Red Deer River South and Panther.

Reminder, if you happen to see any of these tables in the back of a pickup leaving our campgrounds please take photos and pass them along. These are property of FOESA and unfortunately picnic table theft is something we struggle with constantly.

Pictured below is a new table at the new camphost cabin site at Peppers Lake - how relaxing ๐Ÿ˜ด

We just wanted to send out a HUGE Thank You to those who volunteered their time this past weekend at our Annual BigHorn & Eagle Creek Campground Cleanups!

Special thanks to Kodiak BBQ for donating pulled pork as lunch, this was much better than the smokies and hotdogs we had planned!

We had approximately 30 volunteers show up to help assist in the clean up, we managed to rake manure, clean garbage, empty fire pits and spread gravel throughout various highlines! Also big special thank you to those who supplied equipment, we had a skidsteer, mini hoe, utility tractor, many dump trailers and the tractor from the Ranch. Proper cleanup and preparation for the next camping season is not possible without the equipment!! It truly makes our job that much easier.

Looking forward to the 2026 camping season!

We are happy to announce that Wildfire RWF036 is now classified as being held. This means James Wilson Campground is back open and safe to enjoy!
New picnic tables were delivered yesterday to the campground, our Vice President Don spoke directly with Fire and County Officials on site in regards to opening the campground.
Currently the trunk road North of James Wilson is still closed, but the South Trunk is open for access.

Thank a fellow volunteer and firefighter, thanks to their tireless efforts we can still enjoy parts of our west country! Be safe and smart this camping season
