Hello All
As we start to wrap up everything and get ready to hand over to a new board, we have a few loose ends to deal with.
April Sailors - we just need to pay the final bill for photobooks but we came in under budget and plan to refund each person about $85-90 per person. TBD easiest way is for us to pull cash and have pick up arranged with photo book pick up.
March Sailors- Wow this is more complicated and I want full transparency on the situation, our delayed flight entitles us to compensation of $1000 per person as it was over a 9hour delay, we are told it was ‘delayed scheduled maintenance’ which puts it within the airlines control, I applied for this for everyone (all 30 of us by individual email to which it should be paid) and WestJet has 30 days to respond, I have been seeking advice as 30x1000 is no chump change, we may have a little fight but I am prepared to push this.
Next our meals / accommodation and expenses should be compensated…. I say should!!!! I filed a claim for extra lunch / dinner/ hotel stay and parking for parents dropping off kids that morning. The total is $4400, however my incurred cost is just hotel rooms and meals. We are hopeful of recovering this or a per diem per person per day. The current plan is to pay me back from our trip funds for the hotel rooms and meals as I paid out of pocket, we missed the aquarium and dinner but had fun at a swanky hotel and good lunch and dinner instead. March sailor’s will get a refund of around $40 per person and my expenses incurred will be covered. I have no idea how long this process will take but if I get fully refunded I will be further refunding based on what I get back. I will keep a list of March sailors and keep you posted.
