Our last online tournament was the month of September and it was a fantastic month for fishing 🎣

A huge congratulations goes to:
🥇 Avery Richardson, taking first place with 75.25” and grabbing big fish with a beautiful large mouth bass at 15.75” 👏🏼

The month of August is over and there were over 100 Bass submitted!

A huge congratulations goes to Charlie Stockman for taking first place back to back months with 92.50”🥇👏🏼 🎉

Taking second with an impressive 86.00” is Nolan Sambrook!🥈👏🏼🎉

🚨 OFFICIAL OYC DAY 2 UPDATE – COMPETITION CANCELLED

Good morning everyone,

The safety of our youth anglers, boat captains, coaches, volunteers and families remains our highest priority.

After continued monitoring of the Environment Canada marine forecast, weather warnings and anticipated conditions on Lake Erie, the OYC Tournament Committee has made the decision to officially cancel Day 2 of competition at the 2026 Ontario Youth Championship.

Unfortunately, the forecasted conditions have not improved sufficiently overnight, and given the significant winds and associated weather risks expected throughout the morning, we do not believe it would be appropriate to put our youth anglers and boat captains on the water.

There will be no fishing competition today. Please do not launch your boats.

🏆 CLOSING CEREMONY – 8:00 A.M.

We still want to properly bring everyone together and celebrate what has been an incredible OYC weekend.

All anglers, parents, coaches and boat captains are asked to meet us this morning at:

MacDonald Turkey Point Marina
Boat Shed / Concert Area

Arrival: 7:30 a.m.
Program begins: 8:00 a.m. SHARP

We will have OBN volunteers on site directing traffic and assisting everyone with parking, so please follow their instructions when you arrive.

During our closing ceremony, we will conduct our final tournament announcements, recognize our anglers and teams, and officially close out the 2026 Ontario Youth Championship.

🎣 SHIMANO ANGLER GIFTS

We are also very excited that each participating angler will receive a special gift from our title sponsor, Shimano, as part of our closing ceremony.

We therefore strongly encourage all anglers to be present at the 8:00 a.m. gathering to personally receive their Shimano gift.

Please note that angler gifts will only be distributed in person at the closing ceremony. Unfortunately, we will not be able to arrange shipping or delivery of gifts for anglers who are unable to attend, so please make every effort to join us this morning.

We know everyone came into this weekend wanting two full days of competition, and we share that disappointment. However, no tournament result is more important than getting every young angler and boat captain home safely.

Thank you to our anglers, parents, captains, coaches, volunteers and sponsors for your flexibility, patience and support throughout the weekend.

Now let’s get everyone together, recognize these young anglers and finish the 2026 OYC the right way!

⚠️ IMPORTANT OYC DAY 2 WEATHER UPDATE – PLEASE READ

Good evening everyone,

The safety of our youth anglers, boat captains, coaches and families is of the utmost importance to the OYC Tournament Committee. With that as our first priority, we continue to closely monitor the weather and marine conditions for Day 2 of the Ontario Youth Championship.

As communicated at today’s weigh-in, we had originally indicated that we would provide a preliminary update this evening, followed by a final decision early tomorrow morning.

Since then, Environment Canada has issued a Strong Wind Warning, Squall Watch and Waterspout Watch for Eastern Lake Erie. The current marine forecast also indicates increasing winds early Sunday morning, along with a continued risk of thunderstorms, squalls and waterspouts.

Given these developments, we are taking additional precautions before making any final decision regarding tomorrow’s competition.

🚨 PLEASE DO NOT TRAVEL TO THE RAMP OR LAUNCH YOUR BOAT UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

We are asking all anglers, parents, coaches and boat captains NOT to travel to MacDonald Turkey Point Marina or launch their boats tomorrow morning until the Tournament Committee issues its final confirmation.

Our final Day 2 decision will be communicated at approximately 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

This will allow the Tournament Committee to assess the latest Environment Canada marine forecast, overnight weather developments and actual conditions before making a final determination.

We recognize that many families and captains need time to prepare and travel, which is why we want to make tonight’s instruction very clear:

Please wait for our 4:30 a.m. communication BEFORE leaving for the marina.

IF DAY 2 IS CANCELLED

In the event that Day 2 of the tournament is cancelled, our 4:30 a.m. communication will also provide instructions on where and when all anglers, boat captains, coaches and parents are to meet for our final team announcements, presentation of angler gifts from our official sponsor Shimano, and closing remarks.

Regardless of tomorrow’s competition decision, we want to ensure that we have an opportunity to bring everyone together and properly close out the 2026 Ontario Youth Championship weekend.

We appreciate everyone’s patience, cooperation and understanding as we work through the changing conditions and make the best decision possible for the safety of everyone involved.

Please monitor the OBN Youth page and official tournament communications for the final 4:30 a.m. update.

🎣 2026 OYC TOURNAMENT WEEKEND UPDATE!

We’re almost there! Cody Colfax and I jumped on Zoom to give everyone a quick overview of what to expect for the upcoming Ontario Youth Championship weekend on Aug 22 & 23, 2026.

With a record 34 teams and 68 young anglers registered, we’re looking forward to an incredible weekend!

Please take a few minutes to watch the video — we cover some important information for anglers, parents and boat captains, including tournament logistics, rules, boundaries and what to expect over the weekend.

And exciting news for this year...We will be qualifying 2 Highschool and 2 Junior School teams to represent Ontario at the 2027 Championships.

That’s a wrap on our first online tournament for the month of July.
It was a good turn out with 9 anglers and a total of 51 fish submitted.
It was a blast seeing all of the fish submitted this July and I can’t wait to see more Bass in August!

Congratulations to Charlie Stockman for taking first place with 94.00” & BIG FISH coming in with a 19.50” Smallmouth 🎉
