As part of our Community Outreach Program, the Summerside Community Choir participated in the morning Mass on March 22 at Holy Family Church in Kensington. The choir presented a selection of sacred Easter music that deeply resonated with both the congregation and the singers. In appreciation, Father Doug and the parishioners—represented by Jim MacLellan, who is also a member of the choir—generously made a special donation. We are truly grateful for the opportunity to share our music with their community and for their kind and thoughtful gesture.

🎶 Bill Leuty Memorial Fund – Applications Now Open! 🎶

In 2024, the Summerside Community Choir established a special fund in honour of our founder, Bill Leuty. This fund supports music teachers, composers, and choirs who help promote and grow choral music here in PEI.

We’re excited to present a $1,000 award at our Spring Concert on Sunday, April 26, 2026!

🎶 A Generous Legacy for Summerside Community Choir 🎶

The Summerside Community Choir (SCC) is honoured to receive a legacy gift of $1,125 from the Executive of Coro Dolce, along with the generous offer of selections from their music library.

The classical choir Coro Dolce, under the direction of Carl Mathis, delighted audiences for more than two decades with beautiful summer performances and occasional Christmas concerts. As they wind up their affairs, they have chosen to donate their remaining assets to three choral groups. This gesture holds special meaning for us, as Bill Leuty, founder of SCC, was also a founding member of Coro Dolce, and several singers have been part of both choirs over the years.

These gifted funds will be added to The Bill Leuty Summerside Community Choir Scholarship Fund, managed by the Community Foundation of PEI. At our upcoming Spring Concert in April 2026, we will award funds to a deserving individual or group that is helping to promote choral music in Prince Edward Island.

The presentation was made by Cam Clay, Treasurer of Coro Dolce, to Ken Gay, Treasurer of SCC.

Also present were former members of Coro Dolce who continue to share their voices with our choir today.

We are deeply grateful for this meaningful legacy and for Coro Dolce’s lasting contribution to the choral community on PEI. 💙

What a fantastic Registration Night!

It’s always inspiring to see our community come together through music. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, signed up, and shared in the excitement for the season ahead. We can’t wait to start singing together!

Months of rehearsing with new and returning members have turned us into more than a choir—we’re friends in song.
Only a few more days until concert time, and we can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on! 🎶
