Since opening in 2012, the PCH dialysis unit has been a critical lifeline for patients in our community. However, the treatment chairs inside the unit that have supported this care from day one are now worn and need to be replaced after years of use.

Each chair supports patients through dialysis treatments lasting 4 to 6 hours, three times every week. For many, this life-sustaining therapy continues for years, and patients spend hundreds of hours in these chairs each year.

To ensure patients can continue receiving the care they depend on in comfort and safety, we need your help to fund new chairs as part of our $3.2 million 2026 Vital Signs appeal.

New chairs will:
• Enhance comfort during long treatments
• Help support patients experiencing extreme fatigue
• Improve safety and allow staff to deliver the highest quality care

Dialysis is not easy, but receiving treatment close to home in a safe, comfortable environment makes all the difference! Together, we can help ensure every patient receives care with the dignity, comfort, and support they deserve.

Help us bring these vital pieces of equipment home. Donate today by clicking here: https://pchcare.com/donate/

We are thrilled to welcome two outstanding community leaders to the PCH Foundation board. We are incredibly honoured to have Dr. Carrie Lavers and JP Desrosiers to help guide our work to support healthcare at PCH. đź’š

As the Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Summerside, JP brings vast leadership experience and a deep passion for community health. An active lifestyle advocate, he holds a Bachelor of Kinesiology and is a lifelong Summerside resident, where he lives with his wife and two children.

Dr. Lavers is a dedicated veterinary professional with deep roots in the Kensington area, where she lives with her husband and three children. She holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and a PhD in Veterinary Epidemiology from the Atlantic Veterinary College and balances her expertise as a veterinarian with the demands of the family dairy farm.

Dr. Lavers and JP join the board following the departure of valued board members Gordon MacFarlane and John Davison, who retired from their positions at the end of 2025. We extend our deepest gratitude for their years of dedicated service.

Please join us in thanking Gordon and John, and giving a warm welcome to Dr. Lavers and JP! 👇

💙💚Since 2016, our CT scanner has been a workhorse for the Prince County Hospital, but it’s now time for a well-deserved retirement.

In its first year, the CT machine saw about 5,700 patients. Last year, that number was more than double at over 13,300.

To keep up with our growing community, we need your help to raise $975,000 for a brand-new, state-of-the-art CT scanner as part of the $3.2 million 2026 Vital Signs appeal.

Here’s what that will mean for patients:
• Faster scans.
• Crystal clear images for even more accurate diagnoses.
• Personalized to your body, ensuring you get the highest quality scan.

This machine shines in difficult cases, such as detecting tiny blood vessels, subtle tumours, or imaging patients who have trouble holding still.
