 volunteer opportunity ❤️

As you all know, I am involved with The Canadian Council of the Blind. My chapter here in Summerside is hosting the annual Atlantic Sports and Recreation Weekend for the blind and partially cited. This weekend is jammed packed with a lot of great opportunities to try new sporting events and recreational activities as well as make new friends.

Dates: Friday, May 17 to Sunday, May 19, 2024

I am seeking volunteers to help throughout the weekend activities. There are lots of different volunteer opportunities, and no matter how big or how small you can contribute, every little bit matters.

If this is something you would love to help out with please reach out to me via phone or email. We can have a chat about the opportunities and about the Atlantic Sports and Recreation Weekend. Please if you could share this post it would be very helpful as we do need lots of volunteers to make our weekend a successful as possible.

Seeing AI is an app developed by iOS and Microsoft that describes much of what is visible through the camera for individuals with visual impairments. The app offers several valuable features, such as reading text, recognizing people and objects, describing environments, and identifying currency, all designed to assist those with visual impairments. The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and employs AI to describe and identify various items falling under six categories.

The first category, which is short text, involves Seeing AI reading aloud texts, such as text notifications from your device, handwritten notes, and quick notes. The second category, documents, utilizes built-in features to read printed materials, such as bank statements or posters. The third category, products, allows Seeing AI to identify products based on their barcode.

The person category uses AI to identify individuals, describing both their appearance and emotions. The scene category provides descriptions of your environment, while the currency category is specifically designed to describe US paper bills. It's worth noting that the currency category is yet to be made available to the public.
