Emergencies like wildfires can happen when you least expect them.

If you’re under an evacuation order, leave right away, following all instructions from local officials.

Next, contact your insurance provider, as most home and tenant policies cover evacuation-related living expenses ✔️

If you don’t have insurance, or need help meeting basic needs, create an Emergency Support Services profile. ✔️

TIP: Doing this ahead of time will make it easier to access support.

Here’s how to create one:

Step 1: Visit ess.gov.bc.ca

Step 2: Click Create Profile

Step 3: Follow the BC Services Card login and registration instructions

Government of BC :We’re making sure BC is ready for wildfire season - with a focus on safety for people and communities.

We’re investing in firefighters, training, equipment and technology, and supporting communities with the resources they need to increase resiliency throughout BC.

Crews ready to respond:
- 600 year-round and 300 seasonal support staff
- 1,300+ trained firefighters and personnel ready to deploy
- 28 airtankers and 120+ carriers with helicopters on contract

More communities prepared:
- Specialized training for 1,700+ firefighters across BC
- Stronger emergency support services for people forced to evacuate

More tools to respond faster:
- More trucks and firefighting gear on the ground
- Advanced tech to detect, track and forecast wildfires
