Storefront Series: Cookie Bar
Meet Kaity, the owner behind Cookie Bar Strathroy - Cookie Bakery & Bottle Shop, a downtown destination for quarter-pound cookies, curated craft beer and a welcoming place to settle in 🍻🍪.
What is something people may not realize about Cookie Bar?
“There’s always something happening at Cookie Bar! We’re now open Wed–Sun. On Saturday mornings, we bake fresh Banana Chocolate Chip Market Muffins and serve mimosas. And if you love live entertainment, you’re in luck! We feature live music most Saturdays, with local musicians performing from 4:00–7:00 p.m.”
What do you look for when choosing what beers to bring in?
“Beer curation is one of my favourite parts of the job. I love discovering breweries that aren’t easy to find in our area or at local liquor stores. My goal is to bring in unique, high-quality beers that give people the chance to try something new, whether you’re a seasoned craft beer fan or just looking to branch out.”
What is one beer or style you are excited for people to discover right now?
“Summer is all about crisp lagers and pilsners, juicy pale ales, and refreshing fruit-forward sours. I love recommending Milton Dew from Third Moon Brewery in Milton. It’s a sour ale inspired by Mountain Dew and amazingly close to the real thing.”
What has been the most rewarding part of building Cookie Bar in downtown Strathroy?
“Without a doubt, it’s been the people. I feel incredibly lucky to have been welcomed by the Strathroy community. My goal was to create a comfortable, inclusive space where everyone feels welcome to be themselves. The relationships and friendships that have grown from Cookie Bar have been the most rewarding part of this journey.”
What is your favourite cookie?
“I get asked this almost every day, and honestly, it depends on my mood! You can never go wrong with our Old Fashion Chocolate Chip. Seasonal favourites include Bisc Better Have My Money, Yes Pe-can and Vegan Dirty Chai.”
