June 6 is Blue Jean Jacket Awareness Day
This day was created to bring awareness to Missing, Murdered and Exploited Indigenous Men and Boys—a reality that continues to impact our families and communities.
In 2020, Statistics Canada reported that Indigenous men were four times more likely to die by homicide than Indigenous women and seven times more likely than non-Indigenous people in Canada. These are not just numbers—they represent our loved ones and those in our communities.
Blue Jean Jacket Day began in 2023 in Edmonton, led by Indigenous advocates Stephanie Harpe and April Eve Wiberg, to honour and remember those we have lost and to bring visibility to those still missing.

We invite community members to stand with us on June 6 by wearing a blue jean jacket in remembrance and awareness.

Let’s continue to lift up our men and boys, and hold space for their stories. 💙

Family Services Perth-Huron's Familyhome Program is seeking applications for
FAMILYHOME PROVIDER to open their home and provide support to a woman with a developmental disability in Owen Sound or surrounding areas.
This individual can be left alone for short periods of time and is independent with most activities of daily living. She participates in a day program and regular 1:1 community supports each week. Some hobbies include horseback riding, hiking, swimming, crafts, and being social.
