🍂 In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we're taking a moment to reflect on the people and moments that make Camp Gencheff so special.
We're grateful for the friendships, laughter, and memories we get to share, and for the incredible campers, participants, families, and staff who make our community what it is.

As we celebrate Thanksgiving, we're sharing a few snapshots from our first respite weekends of the season! From outdoor adventures and games to simply spending time together, it's been a wonderful start filled with smiles and connection.

Communication is more than words! 💛

October is AAC Awareness Month, a time to celebrate the many different ways people communicate.

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) includes everything from gestures and picture boards to technology that helps individuals express their thoughts, feelings, and needs.

At Camp Gencheff, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to communicate, connect, and be understood.

We love seeing moments like this shared by L.M. Montgomery School, reminding us that communication looks different for everyone, and every form of communication matters.

Because inclusion starts with understanding. 💚

Something slightly sinister is stirring at Camp Gencheff! 👻🎃

We’re hosting a Halloween Dance and you won’t want to miss it! Come in costume and celebrate Halloween with us. Enjoy dancing to great music, and participate in a variety of fun activities, games, and contests.

Be sure to stop by Camp Café and the concession stand for treats! Then show off your Halloween spirit in our costume contest!

For World Smile Day, we’re celebrating some of the things that make our days a little brighter: friendships, new experiences, plenty of laughs, and simply spending time together.

Today, September 30, is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a time to recognize the lasting impacts of the residential school system and to honour the survivors, the children who never returned home, and their families and communities.

Also recognized as Orange Shirt Day, the day provides an opportunity to reflect on the history and legacy of residential schools and the ongoing work toward reconciliation.

Islanders are encouraged to wear orange in recognition of the message that Every Child Matters and to learn more about the history and ongoing impacts of residential schools.

To mark the day, Premier Rob Lantz invited the Chiefs of the PEI Mi’kmaq First Nations, along with members of the Indigenous community and the public, for a short reflection at the Provincial Administration Building this morning. Flags were lowered to half-mast following the gathering.

The Provincial Administration Building will be lit in orange this evening.

Today, Camp Gencheff recognizes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.

We wear orange to honour Survivors of residential schools, remember the children who never returned home, and acknowledge the lasting impacts residential schools continue to have on Indigenous families and communities.

Today is a time to listen, learn, reflect, and remember.

The crew took advantage of the nice weather and spent some time outside getting creative with chalk. We think their Camp Gencheff masterpiece turned out pretty great!
