This week students from the Bulyea Elementary School made their way to the Lions park in Southey to release the trout they have been raising as part of the FinS (Fish in Schools) program.

They have been raising the trout from eggs that they recieved in the beginning of the year.

Thank you to the Loon Creek Wildlife Federation Federation for thier assistance with the release.

Phesant Update 2

The chicks have been moved to thier new location and will spend a few more weeks in the brooder boxes before getting moved to the outdoor pen.
They are getting bigger, so that meant I spent a couple hours setting up & moving about half of them to a second box, and making a separate area for some of the smaller chicks to stay in until they get a bit bigger.

Pheasants 2026 update.

This weekend some members got around to framing the roof of the phesant enclosure for future tin and also installed the temporary tarp roof and new netting for the other half of the roof.

Mother nature even pitched in by providing a small downpour to test if it works just as we were finishing up the roof but still working on the outside.

Now to reconstruct the precariously balanced logs so the future tenants have a place to rest on.

As for the phesants themselves we have them in thier brooding pen, they are around a week old and appear to be doing okay.

While attending the NASP Basic Archery Instructor course at Bulyea Elementary I got a chance to check in on their FinS program. The trout are coming along and will be released into the Southey trout pond in June.

It also sounds like the students and staff are excited to get started with their archery equipment. Unfortunately I neglected to get some photos so you will have to take my word on it.

We are 1 week away from our Spring Banquet. Tickets are still available and we would appreciate getting some more attendees as we are lower than we usually see. If you would like tickets please contact those shown on the poster.

The annual Spring Banquet is our primary fundraiser for the year. This goes towards programs in the area including Archery programs in the school at Strasbourg & Bulyea. The Fish in Schools program at Bulyea school. And our phesant release project. Funds also go towards supporting the SWF Habitat Trust.

If you are interested in sharing your pictures of wildlife, nature scenes, hunting, and fishing, or anything outdoors related for our slideshow, please contact us. Hard copies can be used for the photo contest for scenery and wildlife categories.

If you would like to display any taxidermy heads and/or antlers please let us know.
