Cookie and Toffee are starting to settle in. ❤️

The fear is slowly being replaced with curiosity. Every day we see a little more confidence, a few more steps forward, and a few more noses reaching out to investigate what we’re doing. They’re still learning that people can be safe, but they’re making progress one day at a time. 🐴✨

A huge thank you to Laura Rejuvenation Equine Remedial Therapy for an incredible Body Work Clinic today! 🐴

Laura shared so much valuable information about massage, stretching, and recognizing areas of tension and discomfort in our horses. We are so grateful for the time, knowledge, and passion she brought to this webinar.

If you missed the clinic, don’t worry! For a $20 donation to HHERS, you can still receive access to the recording and all the great information that was shared.

If today’s clinic sparked questions about your own horse, or you’re interested in booking an appointment, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Laura directly. She is always happy to help horse owners better understand and support their horses’ comfort and well-being.

Thank you again, Laura, for supporting HHERS and helping horse owners learn more about keeping their equine partners feeling their best! ❤️🐴

Has she already had breakfast and lunch? Yes.
Does she have her own bale? Also yes.
Is it dinner time? No.
Does that stop her from screaming at us non stop while we’re outside? Also no.

😂😂

Pearl may be 32 years old but she’s loving being doted on with multiple mashes and her own space where no one can bully her.

Thank you for helping us with your gelding grant Horse Aid Canada !!

For those who don’t know; they offer euthanasia and gelding grants , for both rescues and private homes!

Roo was Fortunate to be Born in a Place of Safety ✨

His mother, Abbigale, was rescued from a kill buyer, after a hard life as a bucking pony and in wild pony races. Taken in by Hopeful Hooves Equine Rescue Society in Alberta, when she was examined by a vet it was discovered she was pregnant. Abbigale was estimated to be between 24-27 years of age. Pregnancy for such a senior horse is high risk. But with good nutrition and vet care, she was able to carry her baby to full term. Roo was born June 7, 2025 a healthy c**t.

Matteo's Good Fortune Came Later ⏳

Matteo and his mom Esme were also rescued in June 2025 from a kill buyer by Hopeful Hooves. She arrived scared and starved, her body giving it everything it had to nursing her new born foal. Estimated to be only 3 years old, Esme had already experienced enough to make her fearful and untrusting of humans. Under watchful care, they were both able to settle in, gain weight and their health.

An Incredibly Happy Ending for All 💕

In March 2026, Roo and Matteo were both gelded making them good citizens. Thanks to our generous supporters we were able to provide them with our Gelding Grant. No baby making for them! They will also have much better lives as geldings. That same month Matteo was adopted. Roo has taken on a very important job making rounds at hospitals bringing joy to many.

As for their moms, Abbigale will remain with Hopeful Hooves for the rest of her days as a sanctuary horse. She will only know safety, a full belly and love. Esme has been adopted with her friend Dakota to loving home where they will be able to live out their lives together.

We are so Grateful! 🙏

It is thanks to our generous supporters that we are able to assist rescue organizations like Hopeful Hooves with their incredible life saving work. We hope the work we are doing together fills your hearts as much as it does ours.

We never want to say "no" to a horse who needs us. Help us say "yes" and donate today. Thank you!

Cinnamon and Swirl are still very unsure about us. They won’t let us touch them yet, but they do spend a lot of time watching and inspecting what we’re doing….from what they consider a safe distance, of course. ❤️

We’re trying to move as quickly as possible while still respecting everything they’ve been through. Swirl’s eye is definitely sensitive to the light, and it’s something we need to have addressed sooner rather than later.

It leaves us feeling a bit stuck between a rock and a hard place. We want to give them all the time they need to fully decompress and learn that people can be safe. But when medical concerns are involved, sometimes we have to push our timeline a little more than we’d like.

What’s best physically isn’t always what’s best mentally, and finding that balance can be one of the hardest parts of rescue. For now, we’re taking it one day at a time.
