🐾 Gus & Missy are still waiting 🐾

Gus and Missy are a pair of lovable seniors looking for a home where they can enjoy the simple things in life: cozy beds, soft blankets, a predictable routine, and plenty of love.

Gus is a calm, easygoing gentleman who is happiest relaxing nearby and taking life at his own pace. His adorable underbite adds to his charm, and his sweet nature makes him an easy companion to have around. He does need a little help navigating stairs, especially on the way down, but otherwise he fits seamlessly into daily life.

Missy is the clown of the pair. Once she’s comfortable, her playful and affectionate personality shines through. She loves attention, treats, belly rubs, and making herself comfortable in whatever cozy spot she can find. She’s guaranteed to keep her family smiling with her goofy antics and zest for life.

Both dogs walk beautifully on leash and enjoy spending time outdoors, but neither is looking for an active lifestyle. They’re perfectly content with leisurely strolls followed by a long nap in a warm bed.

Their bond is incredibly sweet. Missy clearly adores Gus and is often found giving him little face kisses. While they’re not inseparable, they enjoy each other’s company and find comfort in having one another nearby.

As seniors, they do have a few simple medical needs. Missy takes Zentonil once daily. Gus receives gabapentin twice daily and a monthly Librela injection through his veterinarian. Both are otherwise easy to care for and have settled comfortably into a predictable routine.

These two are easy companions who would thrive in a home that appreciates a slower pace and the special joy that senior dogs bring. Their future family will quickly fall in love with Gus’s sweet little underbite, Missy’s endless desire for affection, and the loving friendship they share.

❤️ Please share to help Gus and Missy find the forever home they deserve.

🚨 EMERGENCY BROADCAST FROM THE BEFORE THE BRIDGE FOOD BANK 🚨

We have checked the cupboards.

We have checked them again.

We have even stared into them hoping food would magically appear.

It did not.

As you can see, our food bank is currently operating on hopes, dreams, and a concerning amount of empty shelf space. 🐶😅

We’re running very low on both dry dog food and canned/wet food, and our foster dogs would really appreciate it if we could refill the pantry before they start filing formal complaints with management.

The good news? Amazon Prime Days are coming June 23–26! 🎉

And if there’s one thing Winnipeggers love, it’s a good deal. While you’re hunting for bargains, we’d be so grateful if you’d take a peek at our wishlist and snag an item or two for the dogs. Prime Day discounts mean your dollars can go even further, and that’s a win for everyone—especially the pups waiting for dinner.

If you’d like to help in another way—whether that’s purchasing food locally, arranging a drop-off, or making another type of donation—please reach out. We’d be happy to work with you.

Every bag, every case, every can helps us continue caring for the dogs who rely on us while they wait for their forever homes.

As always, our village shows up when it matters most, and we’re incredibly grateful for every donation, share, and word of support.

Now let’s see if we can make those shelves look a little less… decorative. ❤️🐾

Some happy endings are worth waiting for. ❤️

When Archie first came into rescue, his path to happily ever after wasn’t exactly straightforward. After being returned once and having a few meet-and-greets that just weren’t the right fit, we knew his perfect person was still out there—we just had to find her.

And then along came Jamee.

We recently received the sweetest update from Archie’s mom, and honestly, it brought tears to our eyes. Archie has settled beautifully into his new life and has truly found his “forever ever ever” home.

His days are now filled with waiting patiently for Mom to come home for lunchtime walks, long evening adventures to burn off those famous zoomies, toy-destroying sessions (he’s apparently quite the professional defluffer!), shared dinners, and mandatory couch cuddles.

Most importantly, he’s loved beyond measure.

Stories like Archie’s remind us why we never give up on the dogs who take a little longer to find their match. The right home isn’t always the first home—it’s the one where they belong.

Thank you, Jamee, for loving Archie exactly as he is. We couldn’t be happier for you both. ❤️

Happy tails, sweet Archie. You’ve finally made it home

✨ Meet Precious ✨

Some dogs take a little time to let their personalities shine. Precious is one of those dogs—and now that she’s settled into foster care, she’s showing everyone what a truly special girl she is.

Precious is 11 yrs old, a smart, sweet companion who forms strong bonds with her people and loves being close to those she trusts. Whether it’s relaxing beside you on the couch or joining you for a stroll around the neighborhood, she’s happiest when she’s spending time with her favorite humans.

One of Precious’s favorite activities is going for walks. She walks beautifully on leash and eagerly looks forward to her daily adventures. Not only do her walks make her happy, but they also help keep her healthy and feeling her best.

She’s house trained once she learns the routine and knows which door leads outside. Precious is also comfortable spending time on her own when needed and settles in nicely while her people are away.

While she’s generally a quiet girl, she may occasionally let you know she’d appreciate some extra attention—or alert you when she spots an animal on TV that clearly shouldn’t be there.

Precious is the kind of dog who won’t just fill a space in your home—she’ll fill a space in your heart. She’s looking for a family who will appreciate her gentle nature, enjoy her companionship, and give her the love she so willingly gives in return.

Could Precious be the missing piece in your family?

❤️ WE HAVE THE UPDATE YOU’VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR ❤️

Smokey and Bandit are HOME.

If you’ve been following their journey, you know it wasn’t a straight path. We thought we had found the right fit. We were wrong. We regrouped, learned more about their needs, and kept searching.

Because “good enough” was never good enough for these two.

And now, after weeks of uncertainty, countless shares, hundreds of comments, applications, messages, and an entire community rallying behind them, Smokey and Bandit are exactly where they’re meant to be.

When we first posted them, they were living alone in a garage, with someone stopping by only twice a day to let them out. Their future was uncertain, and our hearts were breaking for them.

Today, they’re together. Safe. Loved. Home.

This is what rescue looks like.

It’s not always quick. It’s not always easy. Sometimes it’s messy. Sometimes we get it wrong before we get it right. But when we refuse to give up, stories like this happen.

To every single person who shared their posts, tagged friends, sent encouraging messages, submitted applications, donated, and cheered these dogs on from the sidelines—this happy ending belongs to you, too.

Because of you, two dogs who could have been forgotten are now starting a brand-new chapter.

So let’s hear it for Smokey and Bandit. ❤️

May your days be filled with adventures, your yard be full of things to sniff, and your hearts never again wonder where home is.

Thank you, everyone. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Meet Edgar 🐾Edgar is not quite ready for adoption yet!

Edgar is a 6-month-old Chihuahua mix with a playful spirit and the cutest little face you’ve ever seen. This sweet boy loves to play, explore, and have fun once he feels comfortable.

Like many little dogs, Edgar takes a bit of time to warm up to new people notably men, but with patience and kindness, his personality starts to shine. He’s currently working hard on his house training and making great progress every day.

Kids and cats are currently untested.

Edgar is looking for a loving family willing to give him the time, patience, and encouragement he needs to grow into a confident little companion. He would greatly benefit from a playmate - In return, you’ll get a loyal best friend and endless little dog antics 💛

This week, the incredible students and staff at Seven Oaks Middle School raised an amazing $731.50 during their annual bake sale — and we are so grateful to share in the kindness alongside ❤️

Last week, we had the opportunity to visit the school with some of our adoptable (and soon-to-be adoptable!) dogs, and it was truly such a special experience. The excitement from the students was contagious. There were smiles, cuddles, questions, laughter, and so much genuine compassion for rescue animals. It was clear how much heart this school community has.

To all of the students who baked, donated, volunteered, purchased treats, or simply stopped by to support — thank you. To the teachers and staff who helped organize everything and welcomed us so warmly — thank you. And to the entire Seven Oaks Middle School community: thank you for showing these animals so much love and for helping make a difference in rescue.

We left with full hearts (and some very spoiled dogs). 🐾

✨ STILL WAITING… SOMEHOW ✨

We genuinely cannot believe Chevy is still looking for a home.

This gorgeous black Lab came to us allegedly 13 years old, but honestly? Chevy did not get that memo. Based on her energy, spirit, and commitment to turning squeaky toys into crime scenes, we’d guess she’s closer to 10.

Chevy is around 60 pounds of goofy, loving, loyal chaos in the absolute best way.

She’s fully house trained, sleeps politely in bed like she’s always belonged there, and has mastered the art of being your shadow. Want a walking buddy? A fetch partner? A couch companion? A supervisor for literally every task you attempt? Chevy has applied for all positions.

And fetch? Fetch is not a hobby. Fetch is a lifestyle.

She will proudly return her ball over and over again like she’s performing an important public service. Squeaky toys don’t stand a chance either. If it squeaks, Chevy must locate the squeak immediately. If it contains stuffing, she considers it her personal mission to set it free.

Chevy is wonderful with people and absolutely LOVES attention. In fact, she loves greeting humans with the enthusiasm of a long-lost war reunion, so she’d do best in a home without very small children simply because she can get a little exuberant.

She’s good with other dogs after proper introductions and currently lives with cats, but she’s very interested in them and would prefer a feline-free retirement plan.

Like many mature ladies, Chevy does have a few maintenance requirements to keep her feeling her best:
• Daily liver supplement
• Daily allergy medication
• Hydrolyzed protein diet

And honestly? She takes all of it with less complaining than most humans.

What Chevy really needs is someone willing to give her a little patience while she settles in. Once she knows she’s safe and her people always come back, she relaxes beautifully into home life.

She’s funny, affectionate, ridiculously charming, and still has SO much life left to live.

Chevy is not looking for a retirement home.
She’s looking for her next adventure. ❤️

Molly & Daisy 💛

Quite possibly the sweetest (and most entertaining) bonded pair you’ll ever meet.

Molly: Maltese Terrier Party Monster (semi-retired, but still available for fetch-related events)
Daisy: Chihuahua Mix / Certified Fun Police (actively shutting down nonsense since 2017)

These two are estimated to be between 8–10 years old and have had a bit of a whirlwind past—three homes in just as many weeks. It took them a little time to settle in, but with patience, routine, and lots of love, their true personalities have come shining through.

They’ve both had full dentals, vaccinations, spays, and removal of several mammary tumors—so they’re feeling good and ready for their next chapter.

Between the two of them, they lost a grand total of 71 teeth during their dentals (yes, really). Molly is now rocking 4 teeth, and Daisy is down to 3. Together, they have fewer teeth than your average houseplant, but somehow remain fully committed to snacks.

Daisy is the ultimate love bug. She will demand your attention (politely… but persistently) and is happiest when she’s glued to her person. Molly, on the other hand, is ride-or-die for her girl and lives for two things: Daisy and fetch. Throw her toy once and congratulations—you’ve just signed up for a lifetime commitment.

They are extremely bonded. Like… don’t-even-think-about-it levels of bonded. They go everywhere together, do everything together, and will absolutely be adopted as a pair.

Daisy is a bit vocal, while Molly is mostly silent—unless she’s requesting yet another round of fetch, which she will do until the end of time.

Both girls are used to having a family who is home most of the time. When they first arrived in foster care, there were a couple of accidents as they adjusted, but once they learned their foster mom’s routine, they quickly got back on track with no further issues.

Because of this, we think they would do best in a home where someone is around the majority of the time—whether that’s someone retired, working from home, or just home more often than not. They’ve clearly spent their lives being part of someone’s daily routine, and that’s where they feel safest and happiest.

They get along well with other dogs who respect their space. Molly could not care less about cats, but Daisy—the fun police—wants absolutely none of their shenanigans.

If you’re ready for a built-in best friend duo with equal parts sweetness, sass, and personality, you can apply to adopt them here: https://beforethebridge.ca/adopt-a-dog/
