✨️ SPOTLIGHT ✨️

The Lord Strathcona Medal is one of the highest awards that can be granted to a cadet/JCR. It demonstrates all that Lord Strathcona himself personified: hard work, dedication, service to Canada, excellence in all pursuits, vision, perseverance and intelligence and a focus on stewardship of our country; its health and vibrancy and that of its youth. 🏅

Presented by Area Officer Major Worseley and our Commanding Officer Lt(N ) Hey 🫡

The Murray Whetung Community Service Award is in honour of Murray Whetung, a Curve Lake First Nations Veteran who continued to serve his community after returning from oversees. Presented to a cadet who demonstrates exceptional citizenship and volunteerism. 🏆

Presented by Reviewing Officer Bob Lockwood and our CO. 😃

Bravo Zulu to this year's recipient of both recognitions - Our Coxswain. Very deserving 👏

✨️ SPOTLIGHT ✨️

Recognizing overall strengths, efforts and contributions to a corps and the overall cadet program is a proud moment for the leadership of a unit. 🫡

The Commanding Officer’s Award is presented to the Top Phase 1/2 & Phase 3/4/5 cadet in the Commanding Officer’s opinion. These cadets are recognized for excelling in the objectives of the Sea Cadet program, for their positive attitude and their hard work. ⚓️

This year's Award Recipient for Phase 1/2 is a 2nd year cadet who always has the biggest smile and a fantastic attitude. His positive demeanor, willingless to try new experiences and can- do attitude is so appreciated and we were fortunate to have him as Messenger for our ACR. 👍

The Award Recipient for Phase 3/4/5 was a late joiner this year who participated in all the different opportunities he could. His participation in our elemental training weekends and activities, community service initiatives and his efforts during his training led to his appointment of 2IC of Chicoutimi Division for ACR. 😃

Pictured here is our CO, Coxswain and the 2025/ 26 CO's Award Recipients - Bravo Zulu 👏

✨️ SPOTLIGHT ✨️

The Cadet Program puts an emphasis on "Cadets leading Cadets" where youths are given opportunities to help influence, shape, develop and mentor each other through training and our objectives. 🫡

The Cadet Program provides a space for Ages 12 - 18 to learn from group based experiences, grow together and create a bond that many maintain for a lifetime. 💙

Being recognized by your Peers, your Subordinate Cadets as well as your Senior Cadets as the "Shipmate of the Year" is a true honour. The Award is voted only by cadets and it represents someone who is viewed as positive, engaging, inclusive and looked up to. 🤩

This year's recipient came in as a Late Joiner in September 2026 and has embraced the program with full force. He joined the Biathlon and Marksmanship teams, placing 2nd in the Biathlon Competition and proudly wears a silver pin on his uniform. He was also appointed DPO of Chicoutimi Division and recently won the Top Marksmanship Award as well. 😀🎯👟

The vote count made a statement - The cadets of our corps really appreciate you being part of our team and our Coxswain was excited to recognize you on their behalf! Bravo Zulu 👏

✨️ SPOTLIGHT ✨️

If you were a Sea Cadet in 80s, 90s or early 2000s in the Hamilton/ Niagara area, you probably remember Mrs. Gerry Hey. ❤️

Mrs. Hey was a huge advocate and supporter of the cadet program holding multiple positions with the Navy League from local Branch President to Flotilla Coordinator and more. With a personality bigger than life and an unwavering commitment to the cadets, Mrs. Hey spent countless hours volunteering her time anyway she could. ⚓️

In her memory, we recognize her passion for volunteerism and initiative through the Gerry Hey Memorial Award. 🏆

This year, our Commanding Officer and Gerry's son Lt(N ) Cliff Hey, former Commanding Officer and former cadet during Gerry's involvement Lt(N ) Concordia and our Coxswain presented this award to our incredibly deserving cadet. This year's award recipient is one of the 1st to volunteer, help or look for ways to contribute. His eagerness to assist and his motivation to get things done, truly embodies the spirit of this recognition. Bravo Zulu 👏

Public Speaking can be intimidating for both youths and adults. 😨

As part of our program, cadets are given opportunities to build their confidence, practice their voice projection and gain experience being in front of their peers as well as varying sized audiences. Whether it is giving a drill command, instructions or a speech, being able to speak in front of groups is an important skill to have. 😃

We would like to thank our 1st Year Cadet, 2nd Year Cadet, Coxswain, Reviewing Officer, Navy League Ontario Division Rep, Stoney Creek Branch President and our Commanding Officer for sharing their voice at our recent Annual Ceremonial Review. 👏

✨️ SPOTLIGHT ✨️

When you have a corps of terrific cadets, it is so hard to choose the most deserving recipient. 🫡

This year, we were honored to have our Branch President Ms Belgrave, former Commanding Officer Capt Brencur and our Coxswain present the Malcolm Belgrave Seamanship Memorial award. 🏆

In memory of Master Cadet Malcolm Belgrave, this award is presented to the cadet who demonstrates a strong grasp of various seamanship aspects and is keen to develop their skills in this area. 🪢

Bravo Zulu to our current Boatswain who took on the position this year and has excelled in the role 👏
