Trauma doesn’t end when the call is over.

June is PTSD & PTSI Awareness Month, an observance of the presence and impact of trauma in the lives of people around the globe, and in our communities.

First Responders continue to live with the lasting effects from wounds suffered on the line of duty – both physical and mental. Together, we can ensure help is always within reach for those who need it.

Donate today at ottawafrf.ca/donate and give back to those who give so much for us. Your donation will go towards providing mental health services for Ottawa’s First Responders and their families.

Across Ottawa, many First Responders, Dispatchers, Police Officers, Firefighters, and Paramedics devote their off-hours to volunteering with youth – a powerful extension of their work that inspires confidence, resilience, and belonging.

The upcoming Chief Thomas G. Flanagan Gala recognizes and honours First Responders and their volunteer work in the community; while supporting Their Opportunity, a national charity dedicated to helping children overcome barriers through sport and recreation.

Did you know: The City of Ottawa manages a team of over 450 paramedics who respond to between 140,000 to 170,000 emergency calls annually.

This week is Paramedic Services Week – a time to observe the selflessness and bravery of Paramedics across Ottawa, and Canada.

Thank you for all that you do to keep our communities healthy and safe in times of need.

Give today at ottawafrf.ca/donate and show Ottawa’s Paramedics that they do not stand alone. Together, we can help provide tangible mental health support for them and their families.

This week is Mental Health Week in Canada. 🤝

Approximately 45% of Canadian First Responders develop symptoms consistent with at least one mental health disorder. About 23% of them, over half of those cases, screen positive for PTSD.

Unfortunately, the path to peace of mind is not always clear, or feasible. Our organization creates change by providing funding for mental health services and support for Ottawa First Responders and their families – enabling them to overcome the barriers holding them back.

In this family, no one stands alone. Give today at ottawafrf.ca/donate and become a part of the change.
