⛈Severe Weather Safety Tips

With the incoming weather tonight, it is important to know how to keep yourself and your family safe.

If you see imminent weather approaching:

🏠Go indoors right away
- Avoid staying outside to watch the storm
- Stay away from windows and balconies

🛴Bring loose items inside
- If it is safe to do so, bring in items like: chairs, plants, toys, bbq tools, etc.

⬇Go to the lowest level
- If you have a basement, go there
- If you live in an apartment, go to the lowest floor possible, or an interior hallway, bathroom, or stairwell away from windows.
- Do not use elevators

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦Keep children and pets close to you
- Keep together and stay calm

🔦Stay prepared
- Charge your phone and keep a flashlight nearby in case of a power outage
- Check your phone for emergency alerts

❗Remember: Most storms pass quickly. Staying calm and moving to a safe place can help keep your family safe.

A Visit from the Governor General 🇨🇦

It was an honour to welcome the Governor General’s delegation to our community and to have the opportunity to showcase the work being done at Eastman Immigrant Services.

Visits like this highlight the importance of collaboration, community support, and the role settlement services play in helping newcomers build strong and successful lives in southeastern Manitoba.
