School is just around the corner! 
 
Last Wednesday, August 26, SWIS hosted a School Readiness Info Session to help our community gear up for the new school year.
 
It wasn’t just about learning—we also had some fun! During the session, families participated in an exciting scavenger hunt game to collect school supplies, and children had the special opportunity to pick out a book to take home. 📚✏️📕
 
We also shared practical tips and advice on:
 
✏️ School supplies – Getting the right tools.
🍏 Food – Healthy lunch and snack ideas.
👟 Clothes and shoes – Dress codes and comfort.
⏰ Daily rhythm – Adjusting routines before school starts.
🚌 Transportation & walking – Safe routes and commutes.
🗓️ Kindergarten Even/Odd days – Understanding the schedule.

Youth Employment English Course Starts This Week!

If you are looking to build confidence and prepare for the Canadian job market, this course is for you.

What you will learn:

- How to navigate job boards and fill out application forms
- Interview preparation and practice 
- Canadian workplace cultural expectations

Quick Details:

- Ages: 14 – 17
- Eligibility: Open to work permit, study permit, and CUAET holders
- Dates: August 17 – September 2 (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays)

Last Thursday, August 13th, we hosted our Painting in the Park event! It was a beautiful afternoon filled with creativity, laughter, and community.

Families joined us to paint their own unique canvases and charming birdhouses. We loved seeing everyone’s artistic side shine through!
