We work with people who are experiencing homelessness and poverty in our community to help meet their immediate needs of food, clothing, shelter and by connecting them with organizations in the community in order to improve their circumstances. "We work with people who are struggling with poverty and homelessness to meet their immediate needs of food, clothing and shelter. We also work one-on-one

with clients to connect them with other people and organizations to meet other needs. To use our services:

Drop by anytime. No appointments necessary. Or, if it's after hours, please phone. Our caring volunteers will gladly assist you. To Donate:

We are always looking for the following items to be donated:
- dish soap, laundry soap
- shampoo, bodywash, bars of soap
- toothpaste, toothbrushes
- deodorant, razors, toilet paper
- food: perishable (please bring to a volunteer inside) and non-perishable
- winter mitts, parkas, boots, runners, new underwear

Ways to be involved:
- cook freezer meals for our clients (we provide you with ingredients!)
-bake for our freezer or for the weekly snacks that are served to clients with coffee when they come in.
- volunteer at our drop in centre and connect with clients directly
- organization of collection bins, pick up and drop off of items, sorting/organizing donations
- interact with our page - share news items, tell friends and family of needs, help raise awareness of both the issue of poverty and also the solutions being worked out

Last week a “random” gentleman came into my office with what he called a “crazy idea”.
He was from a neighbouring community and was in between appointments with some time to kill over the lunch hour. He had never been to Outreach before, but was wondering if maybe someone there would appreciate going out for lunch with him. I did a quick inventory as to who was in the building and set him up with someone whom I thought was a good candidate. They went to KFC.
That is all.
Was the homeless and poverty issue solved? Nope.
Did someone feel valued and worth something?
Yes.
Maybe it wasn’t such a crazy idea after all.
Small acts of kindness can go a long way!
