This past Sunday, Kleefeld EMC commissioned Chris and Katie Koop as EMC missionaries, sending them into a new season of preparation for church planting in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Their commissioning was a tangible reminder that missions is never simply about those who go. It is a partnership between missionaries and the church that prays, supports, encourages and walks alongside them.

As Chris and Katie recently wrote:

“We have fully felt that even though we are the ones going, we are not going alone.”

Please continue to pray for the Koop family as they prepare for this significant transition, say goodbye to family and friends, and take the next steps toward ministry in Mexico.

May we continue to be a Conference that sends—and churches that walk alongside those who go.

Leaders from Steinbach EMC spent time learning together as Carl Heppner guided them through DiSC, a helpful tool for understanding communication styles, strengthening teamwork, and growing in self-awareness. It was an encouraging opportunity to reflect on how God has uniquely shaped each person to serve, lead, and work together in the life of the church.

How much do you know about last week’s Project Builders golf tournaments? ⛳

Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, donors, golfers, volunteers, and many individuals, the tournaments in La Crete, AB and Steinbach, MB raised a combined $70,000!

We’re grateful for everyone who helped make this possible.

In 2000, EMC Project Builders sent a work team to Nicaragua to construct a kitchen for Maranatha Camp. One team member, Dennis Kroeker, met a young man named Javier. Javier had recently committed his life to Jesus and was hired for his first construction job to help oversee a Canadian team.

When the project concluded, Dennis gave Javier his tool belt, including a hammer and many other tools. Javier was emotional but accepted the gift. Twenty-five years later, Gerald Reimer, Director of Global Outreach, and Mo Friesen, Next Generation Director, had a chance to sit with Javier and hear about how Dennis impacted his life.

Leading with Vision helps leaders make room for the conversations that matter most: Where is God leading us? What challenges are we facing? What faithful steps can we take together? Led by EMC Director of Canadian Outreach Carl Heppner, this workshop offers a practical process for turning vision into action.

In this video, you’ll hear from Quentin Unger, pastor of Taber Evangelical Church, who recently went through Leading with Vision with his leaders and experienced the value of making space for this kind of conversation.
