MEET SCF EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR LYNDA LAMBERT. Lynda loves bringing people together in the community to work collectively towards the “common good”. Community development and support have always been a top priority for her.

She has worked in the Manitoba community foundation movement for a number of years as Executive Director and as a member of the Endow Manitoba Team at The Winnipeg Foundation. Lynda has enjoyed learning more about southeast Manitoba and is looking forward to more new adventures.

She enjoys riding motorcycle, fancies herself as an artist through painting and sewing, and loves hosting dinner parties with friends and family.

MEET SCF BOARD MEMBER ANDREW WARKENTIN. Andrew works at Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP as a lawyer and practices primarily in the areas of civil litigation, property and development, and municipal law. After graduating high school, Andrew moved to Winnipeg to complete his undergraduate degree in Criminology/Sociology, and later to Ottawa to complete his law degree.

Despite now living and working in Winnipeg, Andrew remains fond of his Steinbach roots. He can be found working from his firm’s office in town on occasion and returns to Steinbach often to visit his friends and family. Andrew is pleased to serve on The Steinbach Community Foundation Board as his way to give back to the community of his birth that helped shape who he is as a person
today.

In his spare time, Andrew enjoys playing hockey, softball, fishing, and attending local concerts.

MEET SCF BOARD MEMBER KEN WIEBE. Residing just outside Grunthal in rural Manitoba, Ken has enjoyed a fulfilling life after retiring from 38 years of farming. Alongside his wife, Ken has been deeply involved in community service, dedicating 24 years as a board member of Granny’s Poultry and 14 years supporting Menno Home for the Aged. Passionate about building strong communities, he strives to create a great place to live, work, and play.

In his leisure time, Ken loves spending quality moments with his grandchildren, working in his shop, and tackling general construction projects. Together with his wife, they embrace worldwide adventures, traveling extensively across Europe, South America, Mexico, and Canada.

MEET SCF BOARD MEMBER SARAH BEAVER. Sarah Beaver, CPA, CGA is a partner of Gislason, Targownik, Peters Chartered Professional Accountants. She graduated at the top of her class in 2007 and earned the Professional Level Award of Excellence. Prior to getting her designation, Sarah worked for her family’s business for many years, and enjoys being able to relate to her clients, as they discuss their challenges and successes.

In her spare time, she enjoys baking (as her hubby has taken over
the cooking), cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, reading military
science fiction, and acknowledges that she is a geek, but not a
nerd.

Sarah also sits on the CPA Manitoba Appeals Committee and
volunteers heavily with the Beaver family chauffeur organization.
Her co-chair there is the family poodle named Yadi. Sarah was
born, bred, and baptized in Steinbach, and believes in giving back
to her community where she can.

Sarah joined the SCF board in 2021 and currently serves as the Finance Chair.

MEET SCF BOARD MEMBER MARY JANE HIEBERT. Mary Jane was born and raised in Steinbach, where she lives today, and enjoys time at her cottage in Killarney.

She began her career in travel in 1994 with the purchase of Harvest Travel Ltd. Following a merger with Holiday Travel, she became General Manager of Canada One Travel in 2014. She is currently the Owner of Oyster Travel Services in Steinbach. Mary Jane served as Chair of the National Board of Directors for the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA) from 2015 to 2025, demonstrating a strong commitment to the growth and representation of the Canadian travel industry.

She holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Manitoba and has performed across Canada and Europe, blending her passions for music and travel. Mary Jane has also served her community as President of the Steinbach Chamber of Commerce (2001–2007), a member of the founding committee for the Summer in the City Festival, and a board member of the Eastman Education Centre and Steinbach Campus Foundation.

Mary Jane joined the SCF board in 2021 and serves as the current Board Chair.

MEET SCF BOARD MEMBER GLENN FRIESEN. Glenn’s career journey is a remarkable story of dedication and growth. He started in the meat department at Penner Foods, a local grocer, where Jim Penner encouraged advancement opportunities. Through hard work and evening courses, Glenn earned his CMA designation—now known as a CPA—and steadily climbed the ranks to become President and CEO. In 1998, when the Penner family decided to sell, Glenn transitioned to Steinbach Credit Union as General Manager. At that time, SCU managed around $700 million in assets. Under Glenn’s leadership, the credit union experienced incredible growth, surpassing $10 billion in assets by the time he retired in February 2025.

Beyond his professional achievements, Glenn enjoys a fulfilling personal life with his wife Marilyn, their two sons, daughters-in-law, and four cherished grandchildren. Glenn's story exemplifies perseverance, continuous learning, and strong leadership.

Glenn joined the SCF Board in 2025 and is enjoying learning more about community foundations and their function.

MEET SCF BOARD MEMBER TONY LENCHYSHYN. With 26 years of expertise in commercial agriculture financing, Tony currently holds the position of Senior Relationship Manager at RBC, where he supports agricultural clients in reaching their financial goals. Tony’s background also includes a decade in operations management and strategy in the hog industry, giving him a deep understanding of agricultural production and the unique challenges within it.

Beyond his professional work, Tony has dedicated over 25 years to coaching hockey in Eastman and Winnipeg, fostering skills, teamwork, and resilience among young athletes. His community involvement also extends to governance roles, having served six years on the Eastman Minor Hockey board, four years with ACL, and one year with the Envision Foundation, each role reflecting Tony’s commitment to community growth and development.

Tony and his wife Lorie call Steinbach home, where they enjoy family life with their two sons, daughter-in-law, and two wonderful grandchildren.

Tony joined the board in 2024 and enjoys learning more about community.
