The Long Weekend of September marks the turning point when lazy, hazy days of summer fade to fall. There is a season for all things, and the tourist season at the Imhoff Studio officially closes at 4 pm today.

It’s been a busy summer here, and we’ve met a lot of terrific people. Thank you, everyone, for stopping in.

It was such a pleasure to welcome Brad and Tracy Morgan from Hanna, Alberta. Brad and Tracy are annual visitors to the Imhoff Studio and, like many Albertans returning home after an enjoyable few weeks in beautiful lake country, decided this was the weekend to stop in.
So terrific to see you, again, Brad and Tracy. We wish you safe travels home.

One of the most striking pieces of the Imhoff collection is the artist’s version of the Last Supper. Visitors draw awe not only from its sheer size, but its composition, too, as this version makes a direct connection between liturgical history and the Sacrament of Holy Communion, the very heart of Mass in the Catholic faith today.

The Long Weekend of September is the last weekend for tours at the Imhoff Studio, as our summer tourist season ends at closing on Sunday.

If you are planning to see this unique and historic studio, this is your final weekend to do so.

This year we’ve had the good fortune to work with Annette Bergeron, a student from St Walburg who has led several tours through the Imhoff Studio. Annette’s warm and engaging personality, her confidence with others, and her knowledge about the artist’s work has made her an important part of our little team.
Thank you, Annette, for your enthusiasm and passion for the artist. It is such a pleasure to work with you!

Considered one of Saskatchewan’s most unique attractions, the Imhoff Studio near St Walburg is a designated provincial heritage site. Visitors walk through the artist’s working studio, which was built in the early 1920s and is where hundreds of canvases, destined for churches and cathedrals in the United States, were painted.
Berthold Imhoff (1868 - 1939) sketched his work in charcoal, and when he was satisfied, he would then apply three coats of oils. Seeing this method is an important part of the guided tour that the studio provides. We look forward to seeing you!

Congratulations on the official opening of the Susan Velder Gallery & More. Not only a wonderful recognition of one of Canada’s most relevant artists — who was even commissioned by Queen Elizabeth II — the opening marks a location that further serves to define and position the Town of St Walburg as a location where art, culture, and community events thrive. Congratulations Bonnie Davis-Schmitz!

On behalf of the Imhoff Family and the Imhoff Heritage Society we congratulate The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in St. Walburg, Saskatchewan on its centennial celebration this weekend.
Established in 1925, Assumption Parish has been the centre of a strong and vibrant faith community.

Congratulations to the parish and the surrounding community on 100 years of continuity of faith, spiritual guidance, and cultural influence for generations past, and for those still to come.

For the artist Berthold Imhoff, a devoted and learned Roman Catholic, the Blessed Virgin Mary was a central and inspiring figure in his work.

Today we welcomed guests from as far away as Bathurst, New Brunswick and Port Alberni, British Columbia. Louise Imhoff, her daughter Samantha Rhodes, and two grandsons loved seeing the Hunting Rooms in the artist’s original home.
“What an amazing place! We are so glad we stopped in, “ said Louise, who is researching her genealogy to see if she has her own connection to the artist.
Thank you for including us in your travels and may your journey ahead bring even more happy surprises and delights!
