What happens when you let tell you which are actually getting it right?
You get three organizations that didn't wait for a policy, a mandate, or a diversity report to act. They just built workplaces where internationally trained talent could show up, contribute, and grow. And the people working alongside them noticed.
Today, the Immigrant Employment Councils of Canada and Canadians TV are proud to announce the recipients of the inaugural IECC National Inclusion in Action Employer Award.
π of Kamloops - Kamloops, BC
π & Smith Lawyers - Calgary, AB
π Development Institute, Brandon University - Brandon, MB
This award exists because IECs across Canada see something every day that doesn't always make it into a headline: inclusion works. When employers take the time to understand what internationally trained professionals actually bring, remove barriers that were never necessary in the first place, and build real pathways into their organizations, everyone wins. The employer. The employee. The community.
We launched this award because promising practices deserve to travel. What works in Calgary should be known in Halifax. What works in Brandon should be tried in Kamloops. The goal isn't to celebrate three organizations and move on β it's to give every employer in Canada something concrete to learn from.
Nominations were collected by Canadians TV directly from newcomers working in Canadian workplaces. Not HR departments. Not executives. The people on the ground, doing the work, who chose to say: this employer showed up for me.
Over the next three weeks, we'll be sharing each story in full. Stay tuned.
