The final session of the Energy NL Conference & Exhibition 2026 focused on Emerging Opportunities: The Next Phase of the Energy Evolution.

Attendees first heard a project update from Gail Randell, Vice President, Major Projects, NL Hydro, highlighting ongoing developments and opportunities within the province’s evolving energy landscape.

Following the update, Frank Davis, Canada Country Head, Pattern Energy; Julie Lemieux, CEO, Triple Point Resources; James MacKay, Senior Project Manager, Angler Solutions; and Ravi Sood, Executive Chairman & Co-Founder, EVREC, shared insights on emerging energy projects and the next phase of growth and innovation in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Session Five – Opportunity Atlantic: Powering the World featured insightful discussions on the growing role Atlantic Canada can play in the global energy future.

Speakers included Fred Bergman, Senior Policy Analyst, Atlantic Economic Council; Marc Bisaillon, Global Director, eGRID, Hatch; David MacGregor, Associate Deputy Minister, Department of Energy, Province of Nova Scotia; and Nena Abundo, Assistant Deputy Minister, Petroleum Development and Benefits, Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. Together, they highlighted the region’s strengths, opportunities for collaboration, and Atlantic Canada’s potential to deliver responsibly produced energy to global markets.

This morning Energy NL and Fortis Inc. were pleased to host approximately 50 high school students from across the province at our conference.

Students enjoyed a breakfast at Fortis, presentations from Equinor, North Atlantic and Memorial University, Newfoundland and Labrador, and attended the final sessions of the Energy NL Conference & Exhibition 2026.

Engaging discussions during Session Four – The Path from Engagement to Inclusion: Indigenous Success Stories at the Energy NL Conference & Exhibition 2026.

The session began with Jeff Jeworski, Senior Vice-President, Atlantic Region, Cenovus Energy, who shared an update on the company’s operations and activities in the region.

Following the update, Hilda Broomfield Letemplier, President, Pressure Pipe Procurement & Management Services; Michael Rose, District Manager, East Coast Catering Ltd. .; and Sheila O’Neill, Indigenous Relations Manager, Horizon Naval Engineering, shared valuable insights on moving beyond consultation and engagement toward meaningful inclusion and co-ownership — highlighting successful partnerships and Indigenous-led opportunities taking place across Newfoundland and Labrador.

Day Two of the Energy NL Conference & Exhibition 2026 began with Session Three – Regulatory Review: Legislative Approaches Working for You.

Jim Beresford, Vice President of Equinor Canada Ltd., spoke about Bay du Nord as a story of resilience, stating: “Projects like ours don’t succeed because we avoid complexity, they succeed because we manage it.”

Attendees also heard from Tracey Power, Chief Financial Officer of North Atlantic, who shared the company’s growth strategy and expanding international footprint.

The session concluded with Terry Hubbard, President of the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada, and Scott Tessier, CEO and Chief Conservation Officer of C-NLOER, who provided important regulatory updates and insights on the evolving energy landscape in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Another strong discussion focused on collaboration, certainty, and the future of responsible energy development in our province.
