Our Programs

Alternative Learning:

We are leaders in the areas of community education and alternative learning. Thrive currently coordinates a continuum of educational programming with a focus on foundational literacy and numeracy as well as GED preparation. We are the only organization in Newfoundland and Labrador to offer GED prep along with a testing centre. Street Reach:

Street Reach wo

rks with over 40 volunteers to offer outreach directly on the streets of downtown St. John’s, and provides a mechanism to facilitate connections between individuals supported through Street Reach and various programs and services. It is the only street-based outreach program in the City of St. Coalition Against the Sexual Exploitation of Youth:

Thrive is the sponsoring agency for CASEY, a coalition working together to address issues related to the sexual exploitation of youth. CASEY specifically focuses on creating awareness of sexual exploitation, professional development opportunities, advocating for the creation of supportive services, and ensuring a coordinated approach to addressing this issue is embraced. The Blue Door Program:

Blue Door supports individuals in their efforts to exit sex trade activities, and/or sexually exploitive situations, including sex trafficking. The program is inclusive of gender and sexual orientation, and is the only one of its kind in Newfoundland and Labrador.

“Thrive truly saved my life!”

Stories like Morgan’s are at the heart of everything we do. From feeling too anxious to speak on her first day to graduating with newfound confidence, connection, and purpose, Morgan’s journey is a powerful reminder of why community, safety, and belonging matter so much.

As we celebrate 25 years of supporting, empowering, and walking alongside youth in our community, we are endlessly grateful to everyone who has been part of our story.

Today August 31, we honor the lives lost to drug overdose, stand in support of the families and and spread awareness to end the stigma surrounding substance use and overdose.

Overdose is preventable, and knowledge saves lives. Naloxone Kit is a fast-acting medication that temporarily reverses the effects of an opioid overdose (such as fentanyl, he**in, or prescription pain medication). Carrying a naloxone kit gives you the power to respond in a critical moment and save a life while emergency services are on the way.

Free naloxone kits are available directly through Thrive!

Empowering youth through education, safety, and self-advocacy!

Our CASEY Coordinators are now trained "Not a Number" facilitators and are looking to offer this vital program at Thrive!

What is Not a Number?
Created by Love146, Not a Number is an interactive child trafficking and exploitation prevention curriculum designed to equip youth with the knowledge and skills needed to make safe choices, identify red flags, and navigate potentially exploitative situations.

Program Highlights:
• Who it’s for: Designed for youth ages 12–18 of all genders, ethnicities, s*xual identities, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Core Focus: Focuses on primary and secondary prevention, open dialogue, and building healthy support systems.
• Empowerment First: Creates a safe, supportive space for honest discussions around healthy relationships, boundaries, vulnerability, and self-advocacy.

We are currently collecting expressions of interest! If you or a young person you know would like to participate in an upcoming session at Thrive, please let us know.
