Come work with engaging & inspiring clinicians from
all across North America. Perform at Memorial University's School of Music for your daytime clinic & then work with 2 of our renowned clinicians in an interactive workshop. They'll provide positive feedback to foster each ensemble's musical growth & development. Directors will receive a recording of this performance, along with written and audio recorded commentary from both clinicians. You have a second opportunity to perform as part of our evening concert series, hosted at the Holy Heart Theatre. Here, ensembles perform for their families and other participating ensembles. It's a great way to showcase your music and enjoy the music of other school & community programs too. Students can also audition to participate in the Rotary Festival Jazz Band. Students will work with one of our fantastic jazz clinicians in intensive rehearsals through the festival week. The experience culminates with a featured set on an evening concert. Directors can receive professional development on a 3-year festival cycle. Through our Coaching for Conductors program, you'll receive personalized and confidential video commentary from one of our renowned clinicians to provide you with constructive feedback. As a non-competitive event, groups are not compared to one another. Instead, each ensemble is encouraged to perform to the best of its ability, and has the option to play to a standard, for a gold, silver, or bronze award standing. Our goal is keep our festival accessible to all. We offer one of the lowest registration fees in Canada - $225 for your 1st ensemble, plus discounts for multiple groups from the same school/organization. Registrants receive a 40-min daytime clinic, 1 evening concert performance opportunity, 1 recording of group's daytime performance, 2 sets of written & audio recorded commentary from the clinicians, group photos (both posed & informal), a Participant Certificate, plus options to for an Honour Award and standing award. The Rotary Music Festival is generously supported by the Rotary Club of St. John's Northwest. The Festival is organized by a volunteer committee of dedicated music educators, community, & Rotary leaders. The Festival has played a pivotal role in the development and enhancement of music education in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Rotary Music Festival is an affiliate of Musicfest Canada.
