Public Geoscience is Invaluable to the Mineral Resources Industry!

Mining NL’s Executive Director, Amanda McCallum, ICD.D recently spoke with CBC’s Ashley Fitzpatrick about the importance and value of public funded geoscience to prospect generation and exploration.

Increasingly severe wildfire seasons are a public safety concern in Newfoundland and Labrador, while also having implications for regular activities in rural and remote areas, including geoscience work essential for the mining sector.

Today, Mining Industry NL hosted the Government of Canada’s Pre-Budget Consultations with the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance and National Revenue, MP Whitby, Ryan Turnbull, in St. John's, NL.

We are very saddened to hear of the passing of Michael McNeill, a beloved and respected member of Newfoundland and Labrador’s exploration and mineral resources community and a proud member of the Nunatsiavut community of Labrador.

On behalf of Mining Industry NL’s Board of Directors, staff and members, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Michael’s family, friends, colleagues and peers. We also extend special thoughts with his brother Paul McNeill, a Director with Mining NL and past Chair.
