🇵🇭 Happy Philippine Independence Day!

Last 30 May 2026, MUNFilSA was honoured to join the Filipino-Canadian community in commemorating the 128th Anniversary of Philippine Independence at St. John's City Hall.

As we celebrated our shared heritage and the enduring friendship between the Philippines and Canada, we were deeply humbled to receive an award from the NL FILIPINO-CANADIAN ORGANIZATION INC. (FilCan NL) in recognition of our efforts and contributions to the development and growth of the Filipino-Canadian community in NL.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to FilCan NL for this meaningful recognition. Thank you for your continued support, for inviting us to participate in this important celebration, and for the opportunity to share the mission and accomplishments of MUNFILSA and its members. This recognition inspires us to continue fostering academic excellence, professional development, cultural pride, and community engagement among Filipino students in the province.

The celebration was made even more memorable by the presence of His Excellency Ambassador Jose Victor Chan-Gonzaga, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to Canada, along with officials from the City of St. John's and leaders of Filipino and Filipino-Canadian organizations from across Newfoundland and Labrador.

Later that day, representatives from MUNFILSA had the privilege of participating in a dialogue with Ambassador Chan-Gonzaga together with Filipino students, recent graduates, and young professionals from Memorial University, College of the North Atlantic, and Keyin College. During the meeting, participants discussed issues affecting Filipino students and newcomers in Canada, and ways to strengthen connections among Filipino students and youth across Atlantic Canada.

We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to these important conversations and to represent the voices of Filipino students in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Maraming salamat po to everyone who continues to support our organization and our community. We hope to see you in our next projects and initiatives aimed to better serve you.

MUNFILSA is expanding its efforts to create projects and programs that support the well-being of Filipinos across Newfoundland and Labrador, and we want to hear directly from you.

Career-ready for the community! 👔💼🇨🇦

Last 6 February 2026, MUNFILSA, in collaboration with the YMCA of Newfoundland and Labrador, hosted an employment readiness workshop at The Landing at Memorial University, Newfoundland and Labrador with both in-person and virtual attendees.

Students heard from NL career experts and professionals on portfolio and resume development, job search strategies, and navigating Canadian workplace culture, with a focus on newcomer and international student experiences.
