Caregiving is part of the music industry — but it’s rarely part of the conversation.

A national study by Women in Music Canada and Music Publishers Canada shows just how big that reality is:
• 66% of music workers with caregiving duties spend 20+ hours/week on care
• 50% say it directly impacts their ability to work in music

Behind every stage, tour, and studio session, there are people balancing care work and creative work at the same time.

If we want a stronger music industry in Newfoundland & Labrador and beyond, we have to make space for the full reality of the people in it.

MusicNL’s Touring and Professional Development Program operates on a monthly, juried intake cycle. The current funding round closes tomorrow - Sunday, May 31, 2026. Applicants are notified of results approximately three weeks after the deadline.

MusicNL is holding its Annual General Meeting for the year ending 2025-26. The meeting will take place Friday, June 12, 2026 at 12:00pm. We encourage all current members to tune in via Zoom and learn more about MusicNL’s annual report, financial statements and directors.

This meeting is open to anyone who is a member of MusicNL.

To attend the Electronic AGM please register by Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at 10am NT. Details to access the AGM will be sent to all registrants by 5:00 p.m. NT on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

About the Work
You'll work with a dedicated crew of industry professionals to help organize many aspects of the annual MusicNL Week. Taking place in St. John's from October 1–4, 2026, the event brings together more than 300 delegates, produces more than 70 performances, and gathers hundreds of audience members to enjoy music throughout the week.

That’s a wrap on ECMA 2026! What a week that was had in Sydney, Cape Breton. We are proud of celebrate another remarkable year for Newfoundland and Labrador’s music community.

From packed showcase rooms and career-building industry opportunities to unforgettable performances and award recognition, NL artists and industry professionals once again demonstrated the creativity, talent, and momentum driving the province’s music sector forward on both regional and national stages.

Behind the scenes, MusicNL worked throughout the week to connect NL artists with promoters, bookers, and industry decision-makers from across Canada and around the world — laying the groundwork for international bookings, touring opportunities, and career-defining partnerships. The eight award wins represent what has been a landmark week of export development for the province’s music industry, with the relationships built here expected to translate into real opportunities for Newfoundland and Labrador artists on stages far beyond our shores.

We have reached the finale! Today we will be at the Industry Gala before heading home. Newfoundland & Labrador showcasing artists have been taking the stage in Sydney, Cape Breton all week long.
