It has been a hot minute since we've made any posts but there is no need to fret because we are soooo back! We have been hard at work crunching tax numbers, ATIP-ing data about road fatalities, redoing the website and preparing. Preparing for what you say? Well NL Sketch Fest of course where Syed Raza David Forsey Steven Kent Myles Russell and Jenn Down (tech) will be performing for the second year. 😄 Read more in the latest post.

We’ve been a little quiet for the last couple months… wait it’s been a HALF YEAR? oh man we really dropped the ball. No need to dwell on the past. Our collective education, career…

Immigration and demographics in NL can be difficult topics to discuss, but in this weeks post, Syed Raza breaks down why immigration is necessary in not just Newfoundland and Labrador, but in far more locations, all with lovely animated visuals.

There will be a part 2, and maybe even a part 3 😉. Follow us and get e-mailed when we publish a post.

Newfoundland has a demographic problem. Well, right now, the entire world has a demographic problem. But it’s been a problem here in the province for a while and the population has been acute…

Ever wonder if things in your city looked different in the past? St. John's wasn't always a sprawly, expansive town. In this short post authored by Myles, we compare aerial photos from 1985 and 1945 to 2025 to see what's changed and what remains the same. Check it out!

Before we blow your minds with graph-filled, optic nerve stimulating, carefully hand-crafted crafted data about what sprawl does to our municipalities, let’s first bask in their everlasting g…

Have you ever thought about the cost of services that the municipal government supplies? And who pays for those services? The answer may seem simple at first glance - taxes from the area pay for the area's maintenance. But the true picture is much more complex. Different areas generate different levels of tax revenue, and require different levels of infrastructure maintenance. This can result in certain areas essentially subsidizing maintenance costs of other areas.

We're really excited for our next project, in which we plan to map the ratio of tax generated to maintenance cost for the City of St. John's, down to street level! Read more about our planned cost of service analysis in our latest post:

So, it is finally time for Streets are for People to hit the big leagues and achieve the goal we set for ourselves over three years ago. When we first started this ragtag group of data nerds and en…

Do you think we are all just graphs and numbers? Guess again!

Check out our latest post by Syed Raza about our adventure of taking Streets are for People into the league of arts and entertainment 🎬! "Sketches are for People", was our name in the 2025 NL Sketch Fest.

Urban advocacy is all about communities. Sure, we may be nerds hyper-focused on technicalities of building codes and road widths, but all of that serves the goal of enabling thriving communities in…
