In 1984 a physician of the Janeway Health Care Centre saw the need for a clinic for Down and Dysmorphic Syndromes. The physician attended the National Conference of the Canadian Down Syndrome Society in Ottawa that same year. to attend the National Canadian Down Syndrome Society Conference for that year. Society Goals

Increase public awareness and understanding of Down Syndrome. Provide support for parents and families of children with Down Syndrome. Ensure primary speech therapy and occupational therapy for all our children. Maintain and increase networking opportunities with other associations to share information and form a unified voice. Establish a library to provide information on current research and other resource material. Society Accomplishments

Successfully hosted the 2004 Canadian Down Syndrome Society 16th Annual National Conference

Currently in the process of lobbying Government to assist in the establishment of an early intervention pilot project to analyze and document the benefits of early intervention (including speech therapy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy) for children with Down syndrome.

We are excited to invite you to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day with us at a fun evening of pizza, music, and dancing!

World Down Syndrome Day Pizza Supper & Dance Party

📅 Date: Saturday, March 21
📍 Location: Our Lady Queen of Families Church Hall,10 Ashford Drive, Mount Pearl
⏰ Time: 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM
🍕 Pizza will be served at 6:15 PM

Come dressed in your favorite blue and yellow outfit and don’t forget your fun socks to celebrate the day!

This event is free of charge, but registration is required so we can ensure there is enough food and refreshments for everyone.

I wanted to let you know that I will be hosting a movie afternoon tomorrow, December 30th!

We’ll be watching Disney Pixar’s Up. This is a family-friendly movie, and all ages are welcome to attend. More details have been sent out to members via email!
