Mid summer 1828: Newfoundland is currently a British Colony maintaining undefined treaty rights with the French along the north coast where residents are labeled squatters by the crown. An Indigenous guide named John has been tasked with searching for Beothuk along the Great Northern Peninsula. Shanawdithit lives in town with a European explorer, while on the island Suzanna Williams has been sent to her grandmother for assistance.

Applications are now open for The Collaborative Dramaturgical Process with Emma Tibaldo.

Have you always wanted to learn more about dramaturgy as an artistic practice or how to approach a creative process dramaturgically? Running from December 15-19, take part in this Exploring Practice workshop with PWM’s former Artistic Director, Emma Tibaldo, as she shares some of the things she has learned in her 20-year career as Dramaturg and Director of New Canadian Plays.

This Exploring Practice is open to emerging dramaturgs and theatre artists curious about the collaborative dramaturgical process. Participants will look at a variety of scenarios including: How to begin a first conversation around the process with a playwright? What does it mean to dramaturg a play and then transition into directing the production? What is our responsibility to the theatre community we work in?

The Exploring Practice will be composed of practical group and individual exercises.

Apply by November 16, 2025! Learn more by visiting our website or the link in our bio.
