Join us for a powerful evening featuring the award-winning documentary "A Dream Called Khushi". This moving 35-minute film follows the journey of a young Rohingya girl born in a refugee camp as she defies extraordinary odds to pursue her right to education and a future in Canada. 🎬✨

In partnership with Hearts Open for Everyone , this workshop is a celebration of resilience and the strength of the human spirit. After the screening, we’ll dive into an engaging live Q&A with the filmmaker and the film’s subject.

🌟 Rahima Khushi - Subject (In-Person): A human rights advocate and social worker whose lived experience informs her powerful advocacy for gender equity and refugee rights. She joins us in person to share her journey of reclaiming her future.

🌟 Rishabh Raj Jain (Virtually): An award-winning journalist and filmmaker whose work has earned both a Student Academy Award and a Student Emmy. Rishabh will join us virtually to discuss the impact of storytelling and global human rights.

This is such a busy weekend in the area it would be worth while spending the night.
WEFTFest starts Friday night with a Wine Tasting
Saturday the Farmers Market is open and the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival is happening
Sunday, WEFTFest speakers series, High Tea event and the fibre art auction will fill your day and the Drayton festival theatre is showing Dear Evan Hansen will fill your evening.

Thank you to the David Johnston R+T Park Community Impact Fund held at Waterloo Region Community Foundation for contributing to our information/education centre project for the Quilt of Belonging in the TriSisters Art House in St. Jacobs.

The facility is not big enough to display the actual quilt, but you will be able to learn all about it, how it was created and get everything you need to either use the resources for your educational needs or to book The Quilt for your event.

We are thrilled that the community we have recently moved to has welcomed us with open arms and lots of support.
