International Non-Binary People's Day is observed each year on July 14 and is aimed at raising awareness and organizing around the issues faced by non-binary people around the world.

The day was first celebrated in 2012, started by Katje van Loon. 💗
The date was chosen for being precisely midway between International Men's Day and International Women's Day.

We are all valid, and we are spreading the love.

Non-binary, like all terms that describe something so personal as gender-identity, does not have a single definition. One definition of non-binary from the Trans Care BC website is:

“An umbrella term which refers to diverse people whose gender identity is neither female nor male. Some individuals identify as non-binary, whereas others may use terms such as Gender Non-conforming, Genderqueer, or Agender.”

Each year, the week following International Nonbinary People’s Day (July 14) is recognized as Nonbinary Awareness Week – a time to celebrate the lives, experiences, resilience, and rights of nonbinary people in Canada and around the world.

In 2026, this week comes at an important time, as recent data from Statistics Canada show that support for gender diverse communities has declined in recent years.

We call on allies to help build a more informed and inclusive Canada—where nonbinary people are not just seen, but celebrated.

As June comes to a close, we want to remind you all that we are always here. We believe in pride all year, regardless of the month ❣️

Please know that we are here for you all to create a welcoming space, as we are a community.

To all of those who are out and proud, but also those who are not quite comfortable - this month, and every month is for you and all of us.

Pride can be a joyful time, but it did start from riots, and for those that came before us to stand up and demand for our rights.

Which is a reminder that these times especially can be a struggle. 💗

Let’s continue to link arms and celebrate our courage, our love, our resilience to keep going forward.

We are here. As we always have been, and as we always will be. We will continue to extend our love and acceptance to everyone. We all deserve to live safe, healthy and proud of who we are.

Remember: You belong here, just as you are‼️

We see you and we are you. And we are here for you. We all deserve a sense of belonging and that is what we are here to keep doing. This is a short recap of an amazing month and we are not even finished. We will keep showing up to show the love and support that we have always been here for.

You are valid, loved and appreciated.

Always remember your sparkle, because that beauty of you - and all of us - is what makes the world shine.

Because YOU SHINE. Remember who you are and never forget that we are here for one another.
