Update on tomorrow night’s event! We are happy to share that Sophia Amiri will be joining our panel as a speaker (remotely). Sophia is a law student and political commentator from Iran residing in Ontario, Canada

Tomorrow we’re hosting the second event in our Imperialism to Resistance Series! Join us for an evening of discussion and enlightenment as we focus this event on the war against Iran. Uncover truths and learn about the role that Canada plays as a western power and an ally to the US and Israel. Sit with us as we wade through western propaganda and discover many truths that lie behind the veil of the almighty empire. Rising Tide welcomes speakers Sophia Amiri and Fargo Soleyma ny Moayed, who will offer insight and knowledge to help us understand the history of Iran and what’s really happening on the ground. STOP THE GENOCIDE IN GAZA! HANDS OFF LEBANON! HANDS OFF IRAN!
The genocide in Gaza rages on, deadly violence and annexation in the West Bank is at an all time high. 1 million residents in southern Lebanon have been displaced and the death toll has reached over 1000, many of whom are children. Hands off Iran, we mourn the deaths of the civilians and particularly the schoolchildren whose lives have been lost in this senseless violence. We will be at the Saturday Farmer’s market from 11-2, please stop by to show solidarity and protest imperial violence and war ✊🏼

Join us on December 5th for a screening of the Palestine Exception! This 70 minute documentary follows professors, students and other activists advocating for Palestine and the unjust backlash that they experience as a result. Gather a deeper understanding for BDS, apartheid and the ongoing genocide in Palestine. Entrance to the film is free, however donations are encouraged and will be given to The Gaza Soup Kitchen. This is how industry traps communities.

using the same old industry playbook:
☑️ They enter with big promises of jobs and prosperity.
☑️ They throw some money into the local economy—but only in ways that serve them.
☑️ They make communities dependent on their taxes so that shutting them down feels impossible.

Now, Squamish is being pulled into this trap. WLNG’s first $1.5M in tax revenue? Not for schools, healthcare, or housing—it’s going to fund more RCMP. And the District is already warning that WLNG’s money isn’t reliable in the long run.

This is a textbook industry tactic to make sure we need them. But we don’t.

🚨Another incidence at the Woodfibre LNG site 🚨

On December 18th, a vessel working at the WLNG sank after a crash, spilling fuel into Howe Sound. Over a month later, the Transportation Safety Board is investigating.

WLNG’s increased marine traffic means more fuel spills, more incidences, and more threats to our home. This project is a ticking time bomb for Squamish.

We don’t need LNG in Átl’ḵa7tsem / Howe Sound. We need clean water, safe communities, and a healthy future.

How many more ‘accidents’ until the province realizes these aren’t accidents, they are part of WLNG’s normal operations 🚫
