Rising Tide is thrilled to announce the incredible success of our second annual benefit concert “Stage Against the Machine”. What a beautiful evening we spent together, connecting and communing. Unfortunately, the genocide in Palestine continues to destroy people’s lives, killing innocent civilians and forcing millions into displacement. This horrific reality calls for worldwide support and solidarity. With about two hundred attendees, we shared speeches on the importance of continuing to talk about Palestine and we heard what it means to be Palestinian with our friend and Squamish resident Fajer. We danced into the early morning to the sound of our incredible bands – Cistern, Dustin Valdes + Ruby, Bird Dog and Whitney K. Together we raised $4656 which will be fully donated to El Elna Elak. We extend a tremendous thank you to our bands, sound technicians, Bill for hosting us, and all of our volunteers. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported this event and FREE PALESTINE!!!

We are excited to announce that Stage Against the Machine is coming back August 21st!! This year we are featuring more bands than ever before. Come enjoy a night of music with local Squamish bands Cistern, Bird Dog, Dustin Valdes + Ruby as well as Vancouver’s Whitney K and Big Rig, and more! Tickets will be sold at the door.

We will be raising funds for Ele Elna Elak (EEE) a Palestinian led organization that is focused on “rebuilding life and dignity in Gaza”. EEE is a volunteer run organization that provides Palestinian families in Gaza with clean water, food, basic hygiene supplies and shelter. EEE was first established in 2018 and has stood by Palestinians throughout occupation and genocide. Every cent that is donated to EEE is put directly to humanitarian response and recovery. Ele Elna Elak is an Arabic phrase that translates to, “What we own, you own”; we are all in this together and the importance of social connection and community tells us that no one should be left behind.

Mark your calendars because Rising Tide is returning this August with our second annual Stage Against the Machine concert! Since our debut event last year, the genocide in Gaza has only intensified. The United States of Israel has become even more intertwined, costing the lives of thousands of people in West Asia as well as the planet’s health. While this is a devastating reality, we find it necessary to not only spread awareness but also to support one another through music and community. We raised a significant amount of money last year and we hope to do the same again. Come out to the Sound Mill Art Society (37710 3 Ave, Squamish, BC V8B 0C5, Canada) to Rage, enjoy some live music, and fundraise to end the occupation. More details to come soon!

Update on tomorrow night’s event! We are happy to share that Sophia Amiri will be joining our panel as a speaker (remotely). Sophia is a law student and political commentator from Iran residing in Ontario, Canada

Tomorrow we’re hosting the second event in our Imperialism to Resistance Series! Join us for an evening of discussion and enlightenment as we focus this event on the war against Iran. Uncover truths and learn about the role that Canada plays as a western power and an ally to the US and Israel. Sit with us as we wade through western propaganda and discover many truths that lie behind the veil of the almighty empire. Rising Tide welcomes speakers Sophia Amiri and Fargo Soleyma ny Moayed, who will offer insight and knowledge to help us understand the history of Iran and what’s really happening on the ground. Discussion will be welcome and refreshments will be provided. Can’t wait to see you there!

STOP THE GENOCIDE IN GAZA! HANDS OFF LEBANON! HANDS OFF IRAN!
The genocide in Gaza rages on, deadly violence and annexation in the West Bank is at an all time high. 1 million residents in southern Lebanon have been displaced and the death toll has reached over 1000, many of whom are children. Hands off Iran, we mourn the deaths of the civilians and particularly the schoolchildren whose lives have been lost in this senseless violence. We will be at the Saturday Farmer’s market from 11-2, please stop by to show solidarity and protest imperial violence and war ✊🏼

Join us for the first event in our new From imperialism to Resistance Series and spend the evening learning about Indigenous resistance to Canadian extractivism in Chile. Food will be served at 6. Music at 7:30. There is a suggested donation of 15 dollars but everyone is welcome and no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Can’t wait to see you there!

Join us on December 5th for a screening of the Palestine Exception! This 70 minute documentary follows professors, students and other activists advocating for Palestine and the unjust backlash that they experience as a result. Gather a deeper understanding for BDS, apartheid and the ongoing genocide in Palestine. Entrance to the film is free, however donations are encouraged and will be given to The Gaza Soup Kitchen. Popcorn will be provided and everyone is welcome to bring food or drinks to share. Masks will be provided. See you there Squamish! 🇵🇸
