As the back-to school supplies start appearing in the shops, we're also starting to ramp up for the new school year. Yes, it's hiring time!

We are recruiting a Kitchen Manager, two Kitchen Assistants and School Garden Educators. We love being part of the school community, connecting students to locally grown food and food security, and we're looking for staff just as passionate about this as we are. Is this you, or do you know someone who is?

This year we are expanding our operations. We will operate our School Meal Program out of two kitchens from September — adding a kitchen at Don Ross Middle School, serving the students at the school. We've also added a new school garden in Squamish, this time at Garibaldi Highlands Elementary, but are looking for garden educators for three of our school gardens.

Thank you everyone for being patient with us as we find producers to populate The Harvest Hub. We’re excited to pilot a farm box that will be available to order weekly through Homegrown.food with Wednesday pick ups at the Harvest Hub.

It will be an easy and convenient way to fill your fridge with locally grown fresh produce without having to deal with market lines or any long term commitments.

The box is a collaboration between local farms, with Brackyard Farm and the Downtown School Farm making up this first box.

Order through the link in our bio. There’s also some extra goodies listed (basil, flowers).

🥕🍩 As if you needed another excuse to treat yourself this weekend…

Head over to Fox & Oak and grab their Community Donut before it’s gone! Available until July 26th, this month’s feature is a delicious carrot cake donut, made with carrots grown right here at the Downtown School Farm.

Even sweeter? $1 from every donut sold comes straight back to Squamish CAN, helping us support climate action and hands-on environmental education in our community. So you really can feel good about your sugar hit!

A huge thank you to Fox & Oak for their continued support, and to everyone who picks up a donut this weekend. We loved growing the carrots—and we think you’ll love eating them. 🧡🌱 photo credit to 📸 asalah أصاله our amazing farm hand and talented photographer.

The Harvest Hub is now onboarding new businesses, and we’re excited to announce a new way to use the facility!

We’ve partnered with Homegrown to help connect local food businesses with more customers online. Through a shared online marketplace, customers can shop from multiple local producers in one place and pick up their order from a single convenient location.

Of course, the Harvest Hub will continue to be available for businesses that prefer to independently fulfill their own online orders.

Interested in joining? Visit our website (linked in bio) to learn more, or email us at [email protected] with any questions.

We can’t wait to grow our local food community together! 🌱
