Howe Sound Student Loan Association

Howe Sound Student Loan Association The Association was formed by a group of interested citizens in December 1962. Formal incorporation under the Societies Act was completed March 12, 1963.

We foster community interest in promoting higher education and training:
to raise funds to assist in defraying expenses of students in need of financial assistance; and to make loans to Sea to Sky students to assist in financing post-secondary education. The original funds of the Association were donated by the P.G.E. Employees’ Association. In 1981 the disbanded Squamish Future Citizen’s Club tur

ned over the proceeds of the Richard Crowston Memorial Fund which was set aside for an educational bursary. In 1983 a group of former students of Howe Sound Secondary School held a reunion, the proceeds of which were donated to the Association. In 1984 the Howe Sound Teachers’ Association made a substantial contribution to the funds of the Association. Since incorporation, considerable money has been received by way of annual memberships and donations.
