The Dr. Carson & Marion Murray Community Centre is a multi-purpose, state-of-the-art venue accommodating sporting, recreational, cultural, tourism and business activities. Uniquely designed to use geothermal energy from the former Springhill Mines to heat and cool the building, the centre is the largest sporting facility in Atlantic Canada to operate on this type of environmentally-friendly power.

Home to the Richard Calder Arena, Ross Anderson PharmaChoice Teen Centre and the CIBC Common Room event space.

🎓 Today is NSCC Convocation Day at the Dr. Carson & Marion Murray Community Centre! 🎓

We are proud to host this special celebration for the graduating Class of 2026.

Please note that the facility will be significantly busier than usual throughout the day, with increased traffic, limited parking availability, and a high volume of visitors in the building.

If you are planning to visit the Springhill Service Centre to pay property taxes, water bills, or access other municipal services, we encourage you to allow extra time for parking and accessing the building. Municipal services remain open and available during regular business hours.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we celebrate this important milestone with NSCC graduates and their families.

Applications are now open for our 2026 Summer Night Market!

Join us on Saturday, July 18, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Dr. Carson & Marion Murray Community Centre for an evening of shopping, entertainment, and community fun.

We're looking for talented local makers, bakers, growers, crafters…and more!

Vendor spaces are just $20 and include:
✔️ One 6' or 8' table
✔️ Two chairs
⚡ Limited electrical access available for an additional $5

Applications are due Friday, June 26, 2026 at Noon AST.

🌈 Pride Month kicked off in style at the Teen Centre! 🌈

We celebrated the start of Pride Month with a colourful Tie-Dye for Pride event! A full group of 15 teens joined us to design their own vibrant Pride-themed t-shirts while embracing creativity, inclusion, and self-expression.

The afternoon was filled with bright colours, laughter, and meaningful conversations as teens brought their unique designs to life. It was a fantastic way to celebrate diversity, build connections, and create a welcoming space where everyone could be themselves.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this event such a success—we can't wait to continue celebrating Pride Month together! 🏳️‍🌈✨

🌸💐 Mother’s Day at the Teen Centre 💐🌸

On Friday, May 8th, the Teen Centre hosted a special Mother’s Day event called Build a Bouquet, where youth had the opportunity to create beautiful flower bouquets, handmade cards, and fingerprint art for their moms. 💕

The event was a tremendous success, with participants showing creativity, thoughtfulness, and care in every arrangement they made. 🌷✨

To make the evening even more meaningful, two of our youth, Mackayla and Cailee, spent the rest of their Friday night spreading kindness throughout Springhill by handing out flowers to local women. Their thoughtful gesture brought smiles to many faces and was a wonderful example of community spirit in action. 🌸

We are so proud of the kindness and compassion shown by our youth each and every day! 💖
