Adam Bengen (pictured centre below), teacher for the EESS - Environmental Leadership Program was guest speaker at our meeting last night. Here Optimist Ron (l) and Optimist Willie (r) present him with a $1,000 donation towards the program. This unique program offered at EESS is in it's 27th year. It is a 4 credit course studying forestry, horticulture and sciences with many hands on and life experiences. A life changing program offering life skills, education, along with personal and social growth.

Supporting our schools - thanks to our participation with Jackpot Time St Thomas, the South Dorchester Optimists were pleased to be able to support TVDSB's - 'Back to School Market Program' where food boxes, school supplies and backpacks are provided free to students. Pictured are Springfield School Principal, Mrs Waller-Gordon accepting a $500 donation from Optimists Janice and Doug McCallum.

Happy Summer from the South Dorchester Optimists! Although our members are taking a short break this summer - we continue to run euchres twice a month and work our assignments at Jackpot Time in St Thomas. We will be back in September with our upcoming bingos and breakfast! Stay cool and safe! See you soon!

Thanks to everyone who attended our "Time to BBQ" Bingo last night. Your support for our Corner Cupboard game was amazing! Below -- Optimist President Doug is pictured delivering 19 boxes of food and $145 for the Aylmer Food Bank - The Corner Cupboard to food bank volunteer Marcie Tenk.
Our special thanks to Johnson Meats for their donation of the prize for this game!

A donation was made to the Elgin Imperials Para Sledge Hockey Team. Pictured receiving the donation from Optimist Ron are Walt Molinaro (fundraising chair and head coach), Roman Harder, Brian Lidster, Ron, Andy Smiaris and Markus Harder. The money will be used for practice ice time, exhibition ice time/fees and tournament fees.
