Good afternoon folks,
After much hard work and collaboration with other municipal counterparts, we are thrilled to hear that the ED-19 parcel has been acquired by the Township of Edwardsburgh-Cardinal.
We applaud the efforts of the Mayor and Council and are relieved to see the property back where it belongs - in the hands of the people.
It has been several years since the approvals for a mega dump site on ED-19 were revoked. Members of CAD worked tirelessly to fundraise for legal representation. We petitioned senior government officials and made sure that our voices were represented at the Township, County, and Provincial levels. While it often felt like an uphill battle, we ultimately won.
We now see this purchase as the final chapter in a long book that we can now close. As a final step we will be closing this page.
We thank everyone again for their enduring confidence in support of CAD and we wish everyone the best.
Onwards and upwards!
Counties Council has authorized the sale of approximately 600 acres of land on Byers Road to the Township of Edwardsburgh Cardinal.
Mayor of Edwardsburgh Cardinal, Tory Deschamps, shares “With this purchase, Edwardsburgh Cardinal Council is extremely excited to put the potential of the ED19 landfill behind us. This is a great opportunity for EC, one of several important strategic investments as Council looks to protect the long term vitality of our township.”
