YMCA Calgary Indigenous Active Life The Indigenous Active Life Program is a community initiative created to promote and support active lifestyle in Calgary's urban Aboriginal Community. Oki! Tansi!

Aniin! Hello! Drop-in recreational activities are offered to Aboriginal youth (ages 12 to 30) at various YMCA facilities. This program promotes active lifestyles and community involvement. Activities include basketball, dancing, swimming, weight floor and more. Participants have access to all fitness amenities available at the participating YMCA locations. Programs are offered on a drop-in basis a

t Eau Claire YMCA on Tuesday evenings from 7-10pm and at Saddletowne YMCA on Thursday evenings from 7-10pm. Drum and Dance is a weekly class run throughout the Calender School Year that teaches Pow Wow dance styles, drumming and various traditional Aboriginal teachings. Programs run on a drop-in basis and cater to both beginner and advanced levels. Open to families and participants of all ages. An excellent way to connect with Indigenous culture, build community as well as have fun and be active in your life! Classes commence in September each year and will take a break for the summer in June. There are no classes held on statutory holidays. Location, Date and Time:

Each summer the AAL Program teams up with USAY and Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary to host the Aboriginal Youth Hoops tournament which is a 3-on-3 Basketball tournament. Members of our community are invited to come out, have fun, spectate and participate! Ages to participate are 16 to 30 years old. The Aboriginal Active Life Program is also looking into hosting various other events available to our vibrant Community on various dates throughout the year! Please check for frequent updates on these postings.


- There is no fee to participate in AAL programs.
