The Nest Addictions Rehabilitation Society

The Nest Addictions Rehabilitation Society For those wondering why we are so quiet as of late we are sitting in dry-dock for a short while - co

The Nest Addictions Rehabilitation Society (The Nest) became Incorporated on February 12th of 2013 after over a year of coming into being, through meetings of like-minded souls around our kitchen table, and over two years of dreaming it to be a reality. We are now proud to announce that we have achieved Charity status giving us the ability to provide our financial supporters (and hopefully allowin

g that list to grown by leaps and bounds!!!) with a charitable tax receipt. The Nest is, at present, in dire needs of funding to be able to submit our rezoning application to The City of Surrey. We have, obviously, located the perfect location for The Nest to open its forty (40) bed residential centre and have both the owner of the location as well as the Cities support. Once we are able to open our doors we will be providing holistic recovery opportunities to women, aged 19 +, suffering from addiction(s) and/or alcoholism who are homeless or near homelessness. As mentioned above, we are a 'residential' facility that will be able to house up to 40 women on a full-time basis and another 10 on a short-term basis. Our programming, while having a proven Twelve Step program at its core, will be comprehensive and include opportunities for our clients to participate in additional programs/curriculum including, but not inclusive to, Women's Empowerment, Developing Boundaries, Co-Dependancy issues, Chemical Dependency and Addiction Education, Building Healthy Self-Esteem, Relapse Prevention, Nutrition and Parenting Skills - to name a few. The women will also have the opportunity to reeve professional counselling thru Sources Community Resources Society. This counselling will allow the residents to explore and work through any issues related to substance use challenges (i.e.: childhood trauma, anxiety, depression etc...) which can assist them to move forward in their recovery process. We are also honoured to have women of our community, whose lives have been affected by the disease of alcoholism and addiction, committed to come to our facility to instruct our clients in Therapeutic Yoga, Art Therapy and Music Therapy. In conclusion, The Nest will provide best-practice options, giving our clients the best possible chance for living a life in recovery.
