We are so excited to be heading back to our hometown of South River for the Canada Day Parade on June 27th! 🇨🇦🎈
Whimsical Encounters Balloonary will be there handing out balloon streamers to all the kids along the parade route, and honestly, we cannot wait to be part of the fun and community spirit.
But here’s something that really needs to be said…
Community events are struggling everywhere. Organizations and volunteers work incredibly hard to keep traditions like parades, festivals, and family events alive, but they cannot do it alone. These events only survive when communities actually show up and participate.
Where are all the businesses? Especially the ones that have opened in the last few years. Contractors? Small home-based businesses? These events are amazing exposure for your business and a chance to connect with the very people supporting you year-round.
Nobody is going to care if your business closes for a couple of hours so you can be part of a community celebration. In fact, people remember the businesses that show up and support local.
And sometimes it is not even about making a donation — it is simply about participation. Showing up matters. Being involved matters. Supporting the community that supports you matters.
The community is asked to support local businesses every single day of the year. Supporting your community for one day out of the year is only a tiny fraction of what they give back to your business all year long.
You also do NOT need some huge expensive float to join the parade. Walk with your staff, decorate some bikes, pull a wagon, drive your side-by-side, ATV, classic car, tractor — whatever you have! The point is to participate, support the town, and help keep these events alive for future generations.
Small towns only stay strong when communities come together. Let’s stop sitting on the sidelines and start showing up again.
See you at the parade, South River! 🇨🇦❤️
