Today, we stand together as one brotherhood.

We pause to reflect on the sacrifices made on this day by our brothers and sisters who responded with unwavering courage during the tragic events of 9/11.

At noon today, our firefighters will join with our extended family—the Almaguin Highlands OPP, Parry Sound EMS, and Sundridge Strong Fire Department—at the SRMFD fire hall in remembrance and solidarity.

Never forgotten.

In Loving Memory of Captain Tyson Whitehead
It is with heavy hearts that we remember and honor Captain Tyson Whitehead, Fire Captain and Medical Director of the South River Machar Fire Department. Tyson was more than a dedicated professional—he was a mentor, a leader, and a true friend to us all.
Throughout his years of service, Tyson touched countless lives—not only through his responses on calls, but also through the tireless dedication he put into training and guiding each of us. His passion for the fire service and his commitment to excellence set a standard that will continue to inspire us for years to come.
Beyond his role in uniform, Tyson was a loving father, a loyal friend, and someone we were all proud to stand beside. His presence was a source of strength, his laugh unforgettable, and his care for others unmatched.
Tyson’s absence leaves a profound void in our department and in our community, but his legacy lives on in the skills he taught, the lives he saved, and the spirit of camaraderie he built among us.
We will forever cherish his memory and carry forward the lessons he gave us. Rest easy, Captain—your service and your laughter will never be forgotten.
