Rooting for rooftops! 🌱

Our Climate Action Accelerator Program Facilitator, Barb McIntosh participated in a wonderful event at Eastdale Collegiate Institute: a rooftop garden tour.

Not only do rooftop gardens help reduce heat and contribute to carbon sequestration, but the school’s rooftop garden also produces fresh food that is served in the school kitchen. Food scraps from meal preparation are then returned to the rooftop compost bins and eventually used to nourish the garden beds - creating a circular food system in action.

During the tour, Barb planted sunflowers and corn on the roof! The event was stewarded by Green Thumbs Growing Kids, a hands-on garden and food education organization that engages urban children and youth in growing, cooking, and learning about food.

Have you noticed we spell Nature with a capital N?
If you follow us on social media, subscribe to our newsletter, or belong to one of the fine schools around North America that have enrolled in our CAAP – Climate Action Accelerator Program – you will have noticed that we spell Nature: Nature, with a capital N!

We believe in the rights of Nature. Like the folks at explain - we do this to acknowledge Nature as a living entity. We believe that Nature belongs along with us on this planet, and you will also see us refer to the ‘more than human world’.

Granting Nature personhood with legal rights is being demonstrated through the global Rights of Nature movement.

We’re thrilled to see the impact that our Climate Action Accelerator Program continues to grow!
